Australia opener David Warner is staying patient and believes he is close to recapturing his best Test form.

The explosive left-hander is without a Test ton since January, making just two half-centuries in his past nine five-day matches.

Speaking ahead of the second Test against Pakistan, Warner said he was confident he would find form.

"It's a little bit of a cycle I think," he told a news conference on Saturday.

"I go out there every time I go to bat to try and put as many runs on the board as I can, same mindset, same process I go through with training.

"At the moment, I'm hitting them well enough in the nets and not making them in the middle. The tide will change. Many players before have experienced the same thing. I've just got to keep a level head, cool head, and make sure I watch every ball as hard and as close as I can."

Despite suffering a 39-run loss in the first Test, Pakistan's confidence has been talked up after its fightback in Brisbane.

Warner played that down, however, reminding the tourists they were beaten at the Gabba.

He said: "We won the game at the end of the day. If they can take confidence out of losing, then I don't know. We won the game and [now] it's a different ball. It's a red ball, it's not pink ball.

"Does the pink ball not stay hard enough? The red ball might stay hard for 40-50 overs. There's so many variables. We've just got to let that one go, we won that, but we've got to move on now to Boxing Day, it's a red ball and it's a different game."
