Ever since Mohammed Shami’s name was withheld from the list of central contracts a couple of weeks ago, there have been speculations that the speedster could miss the Indian Premier League (IPL).
But on Thursday, after the Supreme Court of India-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) awarded the pacer a Grade B contract , his IPL franchise, Delhi Daredevils, confirmed that Shami would play the cash-rich league. "With the ACU clearing Shami, we are all set to have him back in the team," the franchise CEO, Hemant Dua, told Sportstar on Thursday evening.
It is learnt that the pacer will be joining the Daredevils camp in the national capital from March 28. "We start the camp next week and he will be available then," Dua said.
‘One of our main players’
The franchise, till the other day, was not too sure about Shami's future in this edition of the IPL. But Thursday's decision came in as a relief for the franchise. "Shami is one of our main players and we are looking forward to having him on board," Dua added.
The decision came after he was cleared by an internal probe — headed by ACU head Neeraj Kumar — into allegations of fixing.
