Chetan Sakariya's father dies of COVID-19

The Rajasthan Royals fast bowler lost his father to COVID-19 on Sunday.

Chetan Sakariya's father Kanjibhai Sakariya died of COVID-19 at a hospital in Bhavnagar on Sunday. He was 42 and was battling the coronavirus infection for the last few days.

The Saurashtra Cricket Association condoled the demise, saying, "Everyone at Saurashtra Cricket Association is deeply saddened on the sad demise of cricketer Chetan Sakariya's father."

"Saurashtra Cricket Association conveys heartfelt condolences to Chetan and prays to the Almighty to give enough strength to everyone in his family to bear the loss and grant eternal peace to the departed noble soul," the SCA stated.

The 22-year-old Chetan played for the Rajasthan Royals in this year's IPL.

Rajasthan Royals also condoled his father's demise.

"It pains us so much to confirm that Mr Kanjibhai Sakariya lost his battle with COVID-19 earlier today. We're in touch with Chetan and will provide all possible support to him and his family in this difficult time," the franchise tweeted.

RP Singh's father passes away owing to COVID-19

Former India cricketer Rudra Pratap Singh lost his father to COVID-19 on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old left-arm pacer from Uttar Pradesh informed about the death of his father Shiv Prasad Singh on twitter.

"It is with deepest grief and sadness we inform the passing away of my father, Mr Shiv Prasad Singh. He left for his heavenly abode on 12th May after suffering from Covid. We request you to keep my beloved father in your thoughts and prayers. RIP Papa," he tweeted.
