Whether he plays in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) or the Indian Premier League (IPL), being a part of the Knight Riders’ camp is a special feeling for West Indian Darren Bravo.

KKR: Aiming for a third crown

Darren, who donned the erstwhile Deccan Chargers colours in 2012, was hired by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the 10th edition of the IPL. Prior to that, Bravo played for Trinbago Knight Riders, which was captained by his half-brother Dwayne Bravo in the CPL.

Darren enjoys the comfort of being in the same family. “I am very privileged to be part of the KKR team. KKR is the owner of the CPL team (Trinbago Knight Riders), so for me it is like a family and coming back home,” Darren told reporters at a promotional event here on Monday.

Gambhir: ‘Everyone needs to fill in for Russell’s absence’

The left-handed batsman, who has been compared to West Indian legend Brian Lara for his batting style, lauded the IPL for being an iconic T20 event.

“By all means, the IPL is the No. 1 T20 competition in the world. It has created a situation for the start of many T20 leagues around the world,” said Darren.

Colin de Grandhomme replaces Andre Russell in KKR squad

Another KKR batsman, Suryakumar Yadav said the two-time champion team would love to be a trend setter.

“We have two stars on our shirt and hopefully will add a third one and give you all a reason to celebrate.”

Manish Pandey, a reliable batsman, said he would like to serve the side better.

“For KKR, I bat at No. 3. So I have to shoulder a lot of responsibilities. I have to play along with the middle-order. Definitely we will not repeat mistakes of last year and try to play better cricket.”

Pandey aims for Champions Trophy berth

Pandey, who had a good domestic season for Karnataka, said excelling in the IPL might earn him a berth in the national team for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in June.

"IPL will be a good platform for me to get back into reckoning for India ahead of the Champions Trophy,” said Pandey.

KKR will travel to Rajkot on Tuesday to play its first match of the season against Gujarat Lions on April 7.
