Jaidev Unadkat reveals the secret behind his recent success.

Remember the hat-trick Rising Pune Supergiant’s Jaydev Unadkat took against Sunrisers a few days back? The hat-trick fetched him a five-wicket haul and helped him reach the 100-wicket mark in the T20 format. It also helped his team win the match by 12 runs.

A few days later, the left-arm pacer took to Instagram to reveal the ‘reason’ behind his staggering success with the ball – the advice of a 12-year-old boy.

He shared a video of a meet and greet event where a small boy records a message to Unadkat, asking him to change his bowling grip. “Aap bowling aise mat karna, aise karna,” the little boy utters seriously, suggesting the bowler holds the ball across the seam.

Steve Smith and Faf du Plessis, who watched the video message along with Unadkat burst out laughing, language no barrier to understanding what was being suggested. In the video, Unadkat can be seen seeking further ‘help’ from the little coach to perfect his grip.

That ‘serious lesson’ seemed to have worked wonders as the Pune bowler came up with a match-winning five-wicket haul a few days later.

He duly gave the credit where it is due. “So here's the bowling advice I got that led to the hat-trick yesterday. Thanks to the little one!!,” he wrote on Instagram, while sharing the video.

It pays to listen, we say!
