Rahul Chahar made the most of a dry pitch at Feroz Shah Kotla to stymie the Delhi Capitals batsmen. He broke the spine of the home team's batting line-up by removing Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer with ripping leg-spinners. His spell dented the Delhi Capitals innings and it didn't recover from losing four for 14 in the space of 23 deliveries after the powerplay.

Hardik Pandya propelled Mumbai Indians' total to 168 for five with a 15-ball 32, an innings laced with two fours and three sixes. He shared a 54-run fifth-wicket stand with brother Krunal Pandya, adding the runs in just 26 balls. Hardik was out trying to pull a Kagiso Rabada slower bouncer, only managing a top edge to Rishabh Pant.

Rohit Sharma got Mumbai Indians off to a solid start with a 22-ball 30, putting on 57 runs for the first wicket with Quinton de Kock. Rohit played risk-free cricket on a dicey pitch and concentrated more on making a good connection. He was dismissed by a slider from Amit Mishra, with Rohit completely missing the line.

Shikhar Dhawan took Delhi Capitals off to a strong start in pursuit of 169, but fell trying to reverse sweep Rahul Chahar, dragging the ball onto the stumps after making 35 runs off 22 balls. His innings comprised five fours and one six.

Jasprit Bumrah took two for 18, castling Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel from round the wicket. He also inflicted a run out off his own bowling to dismiss Keemo Paul for nought, with the West Indies cricketer having not faced a delivery.
