Mitchell Starc, who was roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders, will sit out of the upcoming Indian Premier League season because of a leg injury.

Cricket Australia confirmed on Friday that the left-arm speedster has "a tibial bone stress in his right leg and will return home for further assessment after the Test and will miss the IPL."

In the fourth and final Test in Johannesburg, Starc was replaced by Chadd Sayers, who would be making his Test debut for Australia.

In the last few days, Australia was rocked by the ball-tampering scandal, with Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft getting banned. South Africa leads the four-Test series 2-1.
