Dwayne Bravo struck a quickfire 68 off 30 balls as Chennai Super Kings registered a thrilling one-wicket win against Mumbai Indians in the 2018 IPL opener.

Bravo hammered six sixes and three boundaries before holing out to Rohit Sharma on the last ball of the penultimate over. Chasing 166 to win, CSK had a shaky start losing half its side for less than 100 on the board. Mayank Markande and Hardik Pandya claimed three wickets each to leave CSK reeling at 118 for eight before Bravo brought CSK closer to victory with a blistering cameo.

Kedar Jadhav dealt a fatal blow to Mumbai's hopes with a six and a boundary off consecutive deliveries in the last over.

Earlier, opting to field first, CSK reduced the host to two for 20 with Evin Lewis and Rohit Sharma departing in quick succession; Deepak Chahar and Shane Watson accounting for the duo respectively.

However, Ishan Kishan (40) and Suryakumar Yadav (43) thwarted Chennai's surge before a late flourish from Krunal Pandya, who remained unbeaten on 41 off 22 balls, lifted MI to a competitive 165 for four.
