IPL 2018: Dhoni tops ‘maximum’ chart with 24 sixes

Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni unlocked a new milestone at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday. The 36-year-old became the man with the most number of sixes, 24, in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League.

Dhoni, who smashed three half-centuries in the tournament so far, remained unbeaten on 43 off 25 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders. The innings, comprising four sixes, took him past Chris Gayle (23 sixes).

Dhoni is also catching up in the race for Orange Cap (most number of runs). The former India skipper, with 329 runs in nine games, is in the fourth spot, after Virat Kohli (349 runs in eight games).

Last season, Glenn Maxwell and David Warner hit 26 sixes and topped the charts. This time, apart from Dhoni and Gayle, five other batsmen have touched the 20 sixes-mark halfway through the tournament.

AB de Villiers and Andre Russell have slammed 23 sixes, Shane Watson 21, while Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayudu have hit 20 sixes each.
