"Tonight was an occasion we needed those two points," Kohli said after RCB beat MI at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday.

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli said the win against Mumbai Indians was a much-needed result going into the business end of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.

Bangalore put in an excellent bowling performance to defeat Mumbai Indians by 14 runs here on Tuesday.

RCB is currently No. 5 in the IPL table with six points from eight games. “We needed that win.Tonight was an occasion we needed those two points. This is the push we needed,” Kohli said after the match.

Kohli felt his team would be able to script a turnaround. “We had good intent and results are around the corner. The result went our way. We should take this confidence forward,” Kohli said.

Chasing a modest 168 to win, Mumbai lost wickets at regular intervals and could only manage 153/7 in its 20 overs.

The Mumbai batsmen - with the exception of Hardik Pandya who scored a patient 50 off 42 deliveries - were unable to stand up to the RCB bowlers.
