Arshdeep Singh picked up two wickets on his debut for the Kings XI Punjab. The 20-year-old seamer removed in-form Jos Buttler and Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane, and in partnership with Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin, fashioned a 12-run win for Punjab.

Rahul Tripathi hit his maiden fifty in this edition of the IPL. He reached the landmark with a single off Ashwin. Tripathi struck four boundaries during his 45-ball 50. The 28-year-old, who had led Maharashtra to the Syed Mushtaq Ali final in March earlier this year, scored 289 runs in 10 matches including three fifties and had been in good touch coming into this year's IPL.

KL Rahul scored an uncharacteristically slow fifty, his fourth in this year's IPL, to power Kings XI Punjab to 182/6 at the end of 20 overs. Rahul struck three fours and two sixes in an innings which came a day after he was selected in India's ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 squad.

Jofra Archer returned figures of 3 for 15 from his four overs. He removed the dangerous looking Chris Gayle before accounting for Nicholas Pooran and Mandeep Singh in the 19th over. Archer now has 10 wickets from eight matches at an economy rate of 6.77.

David Miller's 40 off 27 balls provided a late thrust to Kings XI Punjab's innings. The South African southpaw hammered two sixes and as many fours, adding a valuable 85 runs for the third wicket with KL Rahul.
