Shane Watson struck a 53-ball 96 to power Chennai Super Kings to a six-wicket win at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Watson struck six sixes and nine fours during his blistering knock which nipped Sunrisers Hyderabad's hopes in the bud.
On a night when most Hyderabad bowlers were taken to the cleaners, skipper Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned figures of one for 18 with the prized scalp of Shane Watson. Although his wicket couldn't prevent Chennai from romping home, it will be a big boost for the pace spearhead who has occasionally led the team this season with injury keeping regular captain Kane Williamson out of the playing XI.
Manish Pandey's whirlwind unbeaten 83 off 49 balls powered Sunrisers Hyderabad to what looked like a fighting total at the halfway stage. Pandey struck three sixes and seven fours during his knock, adding 115 for the second wicket with David Warner after opener Jonny Bairstow was dismissed early for a two-ball duck.
David Warner's run glut continued with a 45-ball 57. The Aussie southpaw got Sunrisers Hyderabad off to solid start despite the early dismissal of Jonny Bairstow. Warner struck three fours and two sixes during his innings. He was eventually dismissed by Harbhajan Singh in the 14th over.
Harbhajan Singh, although themost expensive CSK bowler of the night, snapped up two for 39. He got rid of in-form opener Jonny Bairstow for a duck before getting David Warner stumped for 57.
