Parthiv Patel emerged RCB's unexpected hero on Sunday, running Shardul Thakur out off the final delivery to help his side snatch a one-run win over CSK.
With a rampaging M.S. Dhoni having battered 24 runs off the first five balls of the over, it was an outcome nobody expected, least of all Parthiv himself. "I wasn’t expecting him to miss, but surprisingly he missed it," he laughed afterwards.

"We wanted him (Dhoni) to hit through the offside because it’s the shorter side of the ground. If he had hit it on the leg side, there were anyway two runs available. With the way he runs, there was no chance of stopping those two."
Parthiv, who was declared man-of-the-match and is currently RCB's leading run-scorer this season, heaped praise on new arrival Dale Steyn.
"When you play T20 and get a couple of wickets in the first six overs, that makes a big difference, and I thought in the previous games that’s something we were lacking," he said.

"You can see the difference straight away. When we played the first six-seven games, the bowlers were going for a lot of runs. So eventually, they were slightly under pressure. So when he (Steyn) comes in, he comes in with different energy and without any baggage of what has happened."
