IPL 2019: Four losses but all is not lost for RCB

Mumbai Indians, like the Royal Challengers Bangalore, began the 2015 season with four successive defeats before clinching the Indian Premier League title.

Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore, on Tuesday, lost to the Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in what was its fourth consecutive defeat in this edition of the IPL.

The silver lining in Bangalore's defeat in Jaipur, it's worst start in the history of the IPL notwithstanding, lies in the manner in which Mumbai Indians went on to win the title in 2015 after having lost its first four games. Incidentally, it was against the Royal Challengers that Mumbai opened its account, eventually bagging eight victories in 14 matches.

So, while RCB may look downtrodden, all hope is not lost. When it comes to worst starts to a season, Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) tops the list with six losses on the trot followed closely by Deccan Chargers (now Sunrisers Hyderabad) with five. Mumbai has the dubious distinction of featuring thrice in the list.
