Chennai Super Kings was in trouble right from the start after being inserted to bat by Rajasthan Royals.

Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes and Dhawal Kulkarni created havoc by sending back Ambati Rayudu, Shane Watson and Kedar Jadhav early to leave Chennai reeling at 27 for 3 in 4.5 overs. On a tricky track, Chennai needed consolidation and who better than the experienced M.S. Dhoni and Suresh Raina.

Both put up a stand of 61 runs for the fourth wicket before Raina was dismissed for 36 by Jaydev Unadkat. The Chennai skipper remained solid and notched up his half-century and kept the onslaught for the end, when he hit three sixes off the final over bowled by Unadkat.

Dhoni remained unbeaten on 75 from 46 balls, his second highest score in the Indian Premier League.
