Indian Premier League outfit Mumbai Indians has roped in West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph as a replacement for Adam Milne, who is out with a heel injury.
A statement from the IPL on Thursday confirmed that Joseph, who has featured in nine Tests and 16 ODIs for West Indies, will join the squad, but there's no clarity on whether he will be available for the next couple of matches.
“Mumbai Indians have picked Alzarri Joseph as a replacement for the injured fast bowler Adam Milne for the IPL 2019,” said the statement.
The 22-year-old has picked up 25 Test wickets and 24 ODI wickets, and was in exceptional form in the Test series against England where he picked 10 wickets in three matches.
According to the rules, the amount paid to a replacement player cannot exceed the amount paid to the original player. Milne was bought for Rs 75 lakh in the auction.
Mumbai Indians takes on Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru on Thursday.
