Kings XI Punjab opener KL Rahul began solidly against Delhi Capitals seamer Chris Morris, hammering the Protean seamer for a boundary and a six before being trapped in front for 15. Rahul had struck a 57-ball 71 against Mumbai Indians in the last IPL match at the PCA stadium in Mohali.
Sandeep Lamichhane got rid of Sam Curran and Sarfraz Khan with the fifth ball of his first and fourth over respectively. The 18-year-old returned figures of two for 27. He is the first player from Nepal to play in the tournament. The spin prodigy made his national team debut at 16 and was Nepal's highest wicket-taker at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup.
Sarfraz Khan and David Miller added 62 runs for the fourth wicket to bail Kings XI Punjab out of trouble. Sarfraz Khan was eventually caught behind for a 29-ball 39.
Rishabh Pant and Colin Ingram revived Delhi's chase after the early jolts but Pant's dismissal on 39 off 26 deliveries dealt a serious blow to the visitor's hopes.

Sam Curran bagged his first and the 18th overall hat-trick in the IPL to steer Punjab to an incredible 14-run win against Delhi Capitals. Man of the Match Curran finished with figures of four from 11 from just 2.2 overs.
