Riyan Parag's heroic 47 off 31 balls helped Rajasthan Royals to a five-wicket victory against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Rajasthan Royals' Riyan Parag is yet to score a half-century in his debut IPL season, but definitely has made an impact on the big stage.

It was on display in today's match at the Eden Gardens, where the 18-year-old scored a crucial 31-ball 47 in Rajasthan's three-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders — as the visitor aced the chase of 176 with four balls to spare.

Rajasthan got off to a solid start in the run-chase but the pressure was back on the middle-order once Steve Smith and Ben Stokes were removed cheaply. It was then Parag, who took charge and looked set to take his team over the line, if not for the unfortunate hit-wicket dismissal to Andre Russell.

Parag, an explosive batsman, made his Twenty20 debut for Assam in the 2016-17 Inter State Twenty-20 tournament in 2017. From 12 List A and 10 T20s he has played, Parag has two fifties in each of the format. Hailing from Assam, Parag is one of the most promising cricketers playing in this edition of IPL.

He was part of India Under-19 side for the two youth Tests in England, where he became India's second highest run-getter behind Prithvi Shaw in youth Tests and also played a big role during India's win in Chesterfield.

In 2016-17 season of Cooch Behar Trophy, Parag scored 642 runs in 14 innings with a best score of 202 not out.
