Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan feels that there is a need for the middle-order and the bowling in death overs to get better as the IPL gets into the crucial second-half.

The 32-year-old Bangladesh star says the middle-order has not been able to do the damage and unlike last season quite a few runs are being leaked in the death overs.

“I believe in this edition, the teams are more calculated in the last 10 overs and making it difficult for the bowlers. But, I must say we have a very good attack which can come back strongly,” he said.

“We can go all the way as we have a stronger team than last year and see no reason why we can’t qualify for the final,” says a confident Shakib.

What was the message from the team members when Warner joined the squad for this edition after the ban? “Nothing specific. We never felt that he was away from us even in the last edition. David always used to send messages last season in our group, conveying his feelings and best wishes,” Shakib said.

“There are so many quality overseas players sitting out. It is difficult to stay out. But, like a pro, I am motivated enough to be ready whenever I get a chance as this IPL is also World Cup preparation for me,” he said on he missing quite a few games.

On M.S. Dhoni’s controversial action to go onto the field in the match against Rajasthan Royals, a smiling Shakib reminded that even he did the same thing in the Nidahas Trophy once and hence would not like to pass a judgement on that.

“It happens in the heat of the moment and shows how passionate you are as a cricketer and how much you want the team to win,” he concluded.
