In the 14th over of the CSK chase, Riley Meredith's bouncer to du Plessis seemed to clip the bat before passing on to wicketkeeper KL Rahul who went up for the appeal, which eventually led to a brief halt in play after an error from the TV umpire.

In a bizarre incident, CSK opener Faf du Plessis was given out by the third umpire before the decision was reversed.

In the 14th over of CSK's 107-run chase in Mumbai, du Plessis tried to hook a short ball from Riley Meredith. The ball seemed to have missed everything, including the South African's bat, on the way to wicketkeeper K.L. Rahul. However, the Punjab Kings skipper preferred an appeal.

The on-field umpires Anil Chaudhary and Anil Dandekar referred it to the TV umpire, Virender Sharma, to check whether it was the second bouncer of the over.

After watching the replays, the TV umpire deemed it a fair delivery and asked Chaudhary to signal out without even checking for a nick.

Du Plessis reviewed the decision, and the replays confirmed that there was no bat or glove involved. Why the TV umpire decided to give the batsman the marching orders left many puzzled.
