The Indian Premier League (IPL) player retentions was completed on Tuesday with eight teams retaining as many as 27 players ahead of the 2022 IPL auction.

Four teams - Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals - retained four players each while Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad opted for three retentions.

Punjab Kings opted for two retentions, which leaves it with the highest salary purse of 72 crore for the auction which will see a maximum salary cap of Rs. 90 crore.

 

The Lucknow IPL franchise has picked up India wicketkeeper-batsman K.L. Rahul, Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and uncapped Indian leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi for the 2022 edition.

Rahul signed the deal for Rs 15 crore, Stoinis for Rs 11 crore and Bishnoi for Rs 4 crore.

The Ahmedabad franchise named their choices -- Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan -- on Monday. It is understood that Pandya and Rashid have been locked for Rs 15 crore each, while Gill will be paid Rs 7 crore.

Lucknow is expected to dive into the auction with a purse of Rs 60 crore. Ahmedabad, owned by the CVC Capital Partners, will be batting with a purse of Rs 53 crore.
