West Indies opener Chris Gayle went unsold.

Chris Gayle, the fiery West Indies batsman, went unsold on Saturday as he was not picked by any franchises in the Indian Premier League auctions.

He had a base price of Rs. 2 crore. The West Indies star batsman had previously played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, and was one of the major batsmen for the side. This is, however, not the first time that Gayle went unsold in the auctions. After being unsold initially in 2011, Gayle was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore after Dirk Nannes suffered an injury.

There was no looking back since.

The West Indies batsman holds the record of hitting the most number of sixes in IPL history to his name — 265. He also has five hundreds, the most by any batsman, in nine seasons of the T20 competiton. In 101 matches, Gayle has scored 3626 runs with an average of 41.20.
