IPL auctions: Washington goes to RCB for Rs. 3.2 crore

After an eventful year, Sundar was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL auctions on Sunday for Rs. 3.2 crore. The Chennai-based spinner, who can also bat down the order, had set his base price at Rs. 1.5 crore.

Washington Sundar was the biggest discovery of the Indian Premier League (IPL) last season. Coming in as a late replacement player for the Rising Pune Supergiant, he went on to become one of its most effective players. Later in the year, he also donned the India cap.

So, after an eventful year, Sundar was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL auctions on Sunday for Rs. 3.2 crore. The Chennai-based spinner, who can also bat down the order, had set his base price at Rs. 1.5 crore.

The youngster had scalped 8 wickets in 11 matches and played a key role in Pune’s run up to the final. After his IPL stint, Sundar put up some brilliant performances with both bat and ball in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

He also featured in the national side for the T20 series against Sri Lanka. He also made his ODI debut after being drafted in the side for injured Kedar Jadhav.
