Welcome to the highlights of the IPL 2022 match between CSK and RCB at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. This was Santadeep Dey , bringing you all the action as it unfolded at the venue.

FOURS AWARD: Shivam Dube

SIXES AWARD: Robin Uthappa

Shivam Dube: We were looking for the first win. I was happy to contribute. I am more focused this time on the basics. Nothing much. Had a chat with Mahi bhai also. I just wanted to time the ball really well. As the situation demands, I am ready to bat anywhere.

Ravindra Jadeja: This is my first victory as captain. Want to dedicate this to my wife. This is special. The batters and bowlers all contributed. Owners and management don't put pressure on me. Mahi bhai is there whenever you want to discuss something. I am trying to mould into the new role. Will take a little time. We will look to push hard. Will try and continue the momentum.

Faf du Plessis: First 7-8 overs were pretty good, then there was a period from 8-14 where Dube took the spinners on. In that period, whatever we tried didn't work. In order to chase down such a big score, you need one of the first four to set the foundation. We didn't have that. CSK used their spinners well on a pitch that had some grip. The way we came back was credit to the depth. Impressed with the way Prabhudessai played the way he did on debut.

RCB 193/9 in 20 overs: Bravo concedes another wide. Siraj picks up two back-to-back boundaries - the second one a helicopter shot right in front of Dhoni. Chennai gets its very first points this season with a 23-run win over RCB.

RCB 181/9 in 19 overs: Siraj picks up a boundary through cover.

RCB 174/9 in 18 overs: Bravo starts off with two wides again! Disastrous. And that is it! Bravo gets the big fish. DK has been dismissed for the first time in IPL 2022. His average is 131.00. Jadeja takes the catch and the look of relief on his face says it all.

RCB 169/8 in 17 overs: Karthik greets Mukesh with two back-to-back sixes. Four off the third, courtesy of a scoop. The game is alive until DK is there in the middle. Wide ball. Karthik lifts one over the ring but the ball stops in its tracks. Two runs. Wide again. 23 runs off the over.

RCB 146/8 in 16 overs: Hasaranga is gone right after he hits a six. Jordan takes the simplest of catches to send the Sri Lanka all-rounder back into the hut. Timeout! WHAT? HOW? Rayudu takes flight to pluck a stunner out of thin air at short cover. Deep goes for a duck.

RCB 140/6 in 15 overs: Theekshana continues. Mukesh has dropped another dolly as Karthik survives. Just hasn't been his day. Four-for for Theekshana! Shahbaz has been castled. DK gets a six courtesy of a sweep again.

RCB 131/5 in 14 overs: Wide again. Only Bravo knows what's going on... A thick outside edge but the ball just flies past Theekshana at short third. Shahbaz is safe. It is only getting worse for the Super Kings - an extra fielder outside the ring urges the umpire to call a no ball. However, it is only a couple of runs off the free hit.

RCB 116/5 in 13 overs: Theekshana cleans Prabhudessai up to register his third wicket. Karthik is up and running with a boundary.

RCB 110/4 in 12 overs: Bravo starts off with a wide. A dot followed by a wide again. Shahbaz drillls one through cover for four. Prabhudessai has been dropped on 32! Mukesh has let go of a sitter.

RCB 100/4 in 11 overs: Third over on the trot for Jadeja. WOAH! A switch hit from Prabhudessai is followed by a slog sweep - 4, 6. He has moved on to 32 off 13 now.

RCB 86/4 in 10 overs: With a little bit of width on offer, Prabhudessai has slapped Jordan's very first ball through the offside. With an audacious scoop, Prabhudessai brings up another boundary.

RCB 73/4 in 9 overs: Prabhudessai goes for the inside out shot to bring up a boundary off Jadeja's first ball. Shahbaz has swept one to deep backward square leg for four. Strategic timeout.

RCB 61/4 in 8 overs: Shahbaz finds the gap at backward square leg. Four more. Top effort from Mukesh in the deep as Prabhudessai slog sweeps for four.

RCB 50/4 in 7 overs: Jadeja starts off with a short ball and Maxwell has smashed this through cover for four. Gone! Jadeja gets one to skid on to the woodwork. Maxwell on the walk back.

RCB 42/3 in 6 overs: Sloppy fielding from Bravo sees Maxwell and Rawat run one extra. Maxwell tries the reverse sweep next but fails. There is an appeal from Dhoni but the umpire isn't interested. Smoked... two back-to-back sixes from Maxwell. Rawat has been trapped plumb in front. Maxwell asks his partner to go for the DRS. Looks plumb. Three reds it is.

RCB 27/2 in 5 overs: Kohli picks out Dube, the only fielder on the onside. Cracked through midwicket, has Maxwell to pick up the first boundary. Jadeja has a shy at the sticks next. Maxwell was nowhere in the frame. A direct hit and the Big Show would have been a goner.

RCB 20/1 in 4 overs: Four for Rawat who has flicked this to deep midwicket.

RCB 14/1 in 3 overs: Theekshana strikes! This is his first wicket in IPL 2022. du Plessis holes out to Jordan at long-on.

RCB 11/0 in 2 overs: Faf nudges an outswinger down cover point. Sub fielder Subhranshu Senapati chases the ball down but the duo run three in the meantime. Three runs again as du Plessis targets mid-on and then mid-wicket.

RCB 1/0 in 1 over: Moeen concedes only a single off the first over. He almost ends up castling Rawat, who tries to reverse sweep the fifth delivery.

Du Plessis and Rawat saunter to the crease. Moeen Ali to bowl with the new ball.

CSK 216/4 in 20 overs: Six to start the over. Dube makes his presence felt again. Hazlewood strays down leg. Wide. Pulled into the stands now. Dube, on 92, is inching towards a hundred. Can he do it? A double now. Dube needs a six off the last ball to get to his century. Dube mishits and holes out to Faf on 94. Oh, blimey, he's dropped it... This is the highest first innings score in this edition of the IPL.

Shivam Dube en route to 95*.

CSK 201/4 in 19 overs: Hasaranga who? Uthappa heaves one straight down the ground over the bowler's end. Six. Dube now. Same area. Same result. Uthappa holes out to Kohli in the deep. Zero celebration from RCB. Understandably so. Jadeja departs for a golden duck as well. Goes for the slog sweep and Rawat, at deep midwicket, bobbles but finally holds on to the catch.

CSK 187/2 in 18 overs: Dube welcomes Deep with a 98m monster! Dube employs the ramp shot now to guide the ball down to the rope. Dube misfires but thankfully, for CSK fans, it dips in no man's land. The pressure is getting to Deep, who bowls a full toss. Dube swings. SIX again. Somebody in the newsroom says it looks like a highlights package. Three wides on the trot from Deep. 24 runs come off that over.

CSK 163/2 in 17 overs: Robin doing a Batman! Whatever he touches turns to gold today. A miscue ends up being a six. An under-edge goes for four. Ah, jinxed it... Prabhudessai takes a fine catch. OOPS! IT IS A NO BALL. Holy moly. A single off the free hit.

CSK 145/2 in 16 overs: Another electric effort by Prabhudessai near the rope saves two runs. Uthappa pulls away to glory into the Mumbai night sky to bring up the 100-run stand .

CSK 133/2 in 15 overs: Uthappa gets to his 27th IPL fifty with a flick through midwicket for four. Uthappa swivels and dispatches Akash Deep to fine leg next. Six. Dube slices one past backward point for four. With that he gets to his second half-century this season.

CSK 118/2 in 14 overs: Close! Hasaranga starts off with a googly, which Dube fails to read. It just misses the top of off. A superb effort from Maxwell goes in vain as his foot makes contact with the rope even as he pulls the ball back. Four runs. Four byes, unlucky as a wrong'un misses everything before rolling down to the rope.

CSK 105/2 in 13 overs: Uthappa carts Maxwell for two back-to-back sixes. And another! And it is in the same zone - deep midwicket.

CSK 86/2 in 12 overs: Shahbaz continues. Drifts down leg with the turn and Dube turns it down for a single. Uthappa collects two through the off side. Six! Dube on fire. Pitched up outside off and Dube kneels and sweeps it over mid wicket with the turn for another six. Tapped on the off for one and fifty partnership up in 31 balls.

CSK 73/2 in 11 overs: Hasaranga to bowl his first. Starts off with a googly that turns away from Dube's swing outside off and he misses. He connects this time and sends over this tossed up delivery on middle over long on for six. Two singles follow. Three fielders now on the leg side now in deep for Dube. FOUR! Dube still finds the gap to the boundary. Short one and Dube goes back to cream this through mid wicket and into the gap. Keeps strike with a single off the last ball.

CSK 60/2 in 10 overs: Shahbaz into the attack. Starts off full on off stump defended back by Dube. A little too straight and Dube tucks it behind for one. Uthappa cuts off the backfoot through the off for one more. Two more singles follow. Uthappa misses out on a loose one wide outside off. Just five singles from the over.

CSK 55/2 in 9 overs: Six! Maxwell tosses it up on middle and Dube hammers it over long on for a maximum after three dot balls. Eight runs from the Maxwell over. Time for a time out.

CSK 47/2 in 8 overs: Dube starts off with a single though point. Uthappa hangs back and steers this length ball by Akash to the third man fence for four. Akash strays outside leg stump on a length and Dube just swivels and flicks it behind to the boundary. 10 runs from the over.

CSK 37/2 in 7 overs: Spin has been introduced. Maxwell to bowl. He will be hoping to use the surface to good effect. Prabhudessai makes a mark in his very first game with a sensational run out. Stationed at backward point, he dives and throws the ball back to the 'keeper in the wink of an eye. Moeen has to go. Dube comes to the crease.

CSK 35/1 in 6 overs: Pumped downtown! Robin Uthappa picks up the first maximum of the game. The six mars an otherwise decent over.

CSK 25/1 in 5 overs: Moeen, looking to drive through cover, gets an outside edge that rolls down to third man. Nearly chipped to Rawat at mid-on... Uthappa heaves a sigh of relief! He finds the gap at extra cover off the next ball to finally pick up a boundary.

Ruturaj Gaikwad in action.

CSK 19/1 in 4 overs: Four! Gaikwad welcomes Hazlewood with a square cut to deep backward point. The Maharashtra batter goes upstairs after Hazlewood strikes him on the thigh pad and the umpire raises his finger. 'Umpire's Call' it is... ball tracker shows it would have gone on to clip the top of middle and off.

CSK 15/0 in 3 overs: Siraj digs it in and Gaikwad crunches a pull through midwicket for four. The dry wicket will render the short balls harmless tonight.

CSK 8/0 in 2 overs: Hazlewood to bowl his first over in IPL 2022 against his former team. Interestingly, he is now the 150th cricketer to play for RCB. Uthappa takes a quick single with a poke to mid-on; a direct hit would have seen him a mile out of his crease.

CSK 6/0 in 1 over: Gaikwad is off the mark with a nudge towards point. Uthappa gets his first run courtesy of an outside edge that runs down to third man. Lucky boundary for Ruturaj who didn't look to offer a shot. The ball clips the open face of the blade to race past first slip.

Uthappa and Gaikwad to open the batting for CSK. Siraj to get things rolling for RCB.

Ravindra Jadeja:  We would have bowled first as well. We'll look to play competitive cricket. The toss is not going our way. As a team, every game is important. We'll try to fight it out.

Faf du Plessis:  We are going to bowl. It's like playing against my brothers today. We have been good with the ball, we need to improve in the last two overs. Josh Hazlewood is back, excited to see what he will do with the new ball.

Royal Challengers Bangalore opts to bowl.

"The pitch is very, very dry and already a little bit dusty. This is going to spin. For the seam bowlers, there's not a great deal on this pitch. Batting first, if they can get 170-180, that's defendable. The ground staff are treating the outfield again, so dew won't be as big a problem as it has been earlier on in the IPL," reckons Graeme Swann.

The clash between Royal Challengers and Chennai Super Kings is one of the marquee matches in the Indian Premier League. While expectations are always high, the records are lopsided in favour of the Super Kings.

However, when the two sides meet here at the DY Patil Stadium on Tuesday, the Royal Challengers, led by ex CSK star Faf du Plessis, will start as firm favourites.

After failing to defend a high score in the first match against Punjab Kings, RCB has done well to bounce back with a hat-trick of wins.

In the last match against Mumbai Indians, the bowlers did well to take six wickets after the PowerPlay for just 29 runs, thus restricting the opponent to a modest total before Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli chased down the target comfortably.

While the team will miss the services of pacer Harshal Patel who left the bubble after the game on Saturday due to a bereavement in the family, it received a boost with pacers Josh Hazlewood and Jason Behrendorff starting training on Monday.

The Super Kings, under new skipper Ravindra Jadeja, had a disastrous start to its title defence campaign with four straight losses. Their concern is the absence of effective wicket-taking bowlers, especially with the new ball, while dew has blunted its spin attack.

The men in yellow also will need the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ambati Rayudu to step up sooner than later to give themselves a chance in the tournament.
