David Miller celebrates after hitting the winning six.
Hello and welcome to Sportstar's LIVE coverage of the IPL 2022 Qualifier 1 between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals from the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Very poor execution in the last over by Prasidh. Slot balls and Miller wasn't going to miss out on those. Royals though will have another crack at the final. They will take on the winner of tomorrow's Eliminator between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Samson: "Happy with the score we got. The wicket was a bit sticky. It was helping bowlers, there was swing in the PowerPlay. That kind of total in that kind of conditions was great... the wicket was better to bat on in the second innings."
Right then, it'll be a home final for Hardik Pandya & Co. That would be all from our side. Thanks for joining us.

Gill now gets an inside edge that flies past a stretched Samson for four. Gill finds the gap next ball, drills one through off side for four more. 1 to finish.
GT 31/1 in 4 overs: Prasidh to Gill, two dot balls to start the over. Make that three dot balls in a row. The pressure will be on Gill. He can't afford to eat up too many balls. RAJASTHAN ROYALS 188/6 IN 20 OVERS
Yet another brilliant innings by Jos Buttler has put Rajasthan Royals in command. Despite not having the most fluent of starts, Buttler found his groove after reaching his half-century off 42 balls. Samson chipped with handy 26-ball 47 to take RR to 55 for one inside the PowerPlay. However, spinners Rashid Khan and R Sai Kishore put the skids on the run rate in the middle overs, as only 72 runs came between over 7 and 16. The final four over yielded 61 runs as Buttler took the pacers to task and just missed out on a fourth hundred of IPL 2022. A tall task ahead for GT, chasing 189 runs against a well-rounded Rajasthan bowling attack.
RR 188/6 in 20 overs: Parag collects a single at third man after he bat flies to square leg as he looks to go big on leg-side. They ran a couple but just one run given as Parag didn't have anything over the line. Single next ball and Buttler is back on strike. SIX! Full, in the slot, and muscled over long-on by Buttler for a maximum. He moves to 86 and there is an outside edge of a hundred here. Full toss outside off and Buttler hammers it straight to the extra cover fielder; dot ball. Full again and drilled by Buttler to long-off for a couple more. Last ball is a slower one, hacked across the line for just a single at long-on. OUT! They come back for the second but Buttler is short of his crease. But the buzzer has gone off and it is a no-ball for overstepping. One more ball to come. Jos Buttler run out (Alzarri Joseph/ Wriddhiman Saha) 89(56b 12x4 2x6). Ashwin on strike. OUT! Angling across outside off and given wide. Parag wants to run a single and has come to Ashwin's end. But Ashwin wants none of it and Parag is run out. Riyan Parag run out (Wriddhiman Saha, Yash Dayal) 4(3b). Ashwin pats this length ball to long-on and hares for a couple of runs.
RR 172/4 in 19 overs: Short one into Hetmyer's body and he finds an outside edge as he is cramped for the pull and just one run as the ball loops up and lands in vacant point region. Length ball and Buttler slices this up into the air and collects a single just over extra cover. The fielder runs in from deep extra and drops it sliding forward. OUT! Hetmyer finds the long-on fielder looking to clear the boundary. It was full, angling into his legs. Shimron Hetmyer c Rahul Tewatia b Mohammed Shami 4(7b). Parag tucks it off his hips for a single. FOUR! Buttler gets a thick outside edge to the third-man boundary as he looks to swing across a slow and short of length delivery outisde off. SIX! Imperious. Full, Buttler picks it up and clears the straight boundary.
RR 159/3 in 18 overs: FOUR! Length on middle, Buttler stands still and hammers it down the ground four a boundary. Buttler digs out a yorker for a single at mid-off. 150 up for RR in 17.2 overs. Hetmyer whips it off his pads for one more. FOUR! Full on middle and Buttler swings across the line and fetches the mid-wicket boundary. FOUR! Full-toss on middle and hacked across the line again by Buttler to find the mid-wicket boundary. Bouncer to end the over and Buttler ducks under it.
RR 145/3 in 17 overs: Dayal returns. FOUR! Slower one to Buttler, and he goes back and jabs this to the square leg boundary. He was beaten for the lack of pace but made enough connection. Rashid dived to pull it back in but the ball had just hit the cushion. FOUR! Slower one on a length outside off and Buttler slaps this away to the long-off boundary. This should have been taken in the deep by Hardik as he was closing in on the ball but slipped. FOUR! Joseph lets this go between his legs at short-third man after Buttler gets a thick bottom edge trying to reach out to this wide outside off delivery. Buttler brings up his 50 off 42 balls. FOUR! Full and wide outside off again, and Buttler dabs this to the third-man boundary. Convincing and intentional this time! Slower one and swatted to long-off by Buttler for a single and he keeps strike.
RR 127/3 in 16 overs: Rashid bowls out. Just 12 runs in his first three overs. Turning in and Buttler punches down the ground for one. Leading edge to point as Hetmyer closes the face of the bat to clip this on leg-side. One more for Buttler. He completes 8000 T20 runs today. A couple of dots to end. Rashid finishes with 4-0-15-0.
RR 124/3 in 15 overs: OUT! Off-cutter by Hardik, angling away outside off, and Padikkal chops on as he gets an inside edge trying to pull. Devdutt Padikkal b Hardik Pandya 28(20b 2x4 2x6). Hetmyer comes in and swats this over mid-wicket for a single. FOUR! Strays down leg and Buttler flicks it to the square leg boundary. Single at deep point and Buttler keeps strike.
RR 116/2 in 14 overs: Kishore bowls out. Whipped away off the pads for a single by Padikkal. Buttler sticks his back leg out, looking to back away outside leg, and Kishore responds by going wide outside off. Single for Buttler next ball. SIX! Tossed up and another slog sweep as Padikkal clears the mid-wicket boundary and sends it into the stands. 100 runs up for RR in 13.3 overs. FOUR! This is lucky but another boundary. He steps out and gets it off the bottom of the bat as it runs away behind the keeper for a boundary. FOUR! Short and this is slashed off the backfoot for a boundary at deep point. Single to end the over.
R 98/2 in 13 overs: Hardik comes with the ball. Length on middle and off, keeps low and Padikkal is a little uncomfortable as he defends it back to the bowler. This is going down leg-side and wide ball called. Fullish and pushed to covers for one. Top edge on the pull for Buttler, balloons in the air and just short of the fine-leg fielder. Hacked away by Buttler to deep mid-wicket for a single. Another back of a length ball angling away on off stump and Padikkal taps it on the off. Tucked off his hips for one more. Just six from the over. TIME OUT!
RR 92/2 in 12 overs: SIX! Padikkal sweeps this and just about clears the rope at square leg. He took a big stride forward as he put his knee down and reached out from in front of him to make the connection. A couple of singles to follow as Kishore pulls his length back a bit. Another single for Buttler off the inside half of the bat and his struggles continue today. Padikkal punches the last one to long-off for one more.
RR 83/2 in 11 overs: Another gem of an over by Rashid. Just four singles from it. Keeps it on a length and keeps mixing it up with his googlies.
RR 79/2 in 10 overs: Kishore continues. Fullish outside off and Samson charges down the track for a single at long-off. Buttler then steps out and flicks off the inside half of the bat for one more at deep square. Samson gets a keading edge to long-off for one more as the ball grips into the wicket a bit. Whipped away off the pads by Buttler for another single. OUT! Full and straight and Samson launches this straight to long-on fielder and that's a big wicket. Samson looked poised for one of his mandatory hundreds, one that he hasn't struck this season yet. Sanju Samson c Alzarri Joseph b R Sai Kishore 47(26b 5x4 3x6). Padikkal comes in and is beaten first ball.
RR 75/1 in 9 overs: Rashid beats Buttler outside off with his first two deliveries with his legbreaks. Buttler then flicks a googly to mid-wicket for one. A couple of more dots as Samson chooses to defend. Single to long-on to end the over. Just two runs from the over.
RR 73/1 in 8 overs: Kishore from the other end. Angling on leg-side and Samson backs away outside leg to flick it for one. Full again on middle and Buttler clips it for a single at square leg. FOUR! Short and a bit wide outside of and Samson cuts it between point and cover for a boundary. Turning in on a length and Samson pushes it past mid-on for one more. Length ball angling in on the pads and Buttler flicks it for one more. FOUR! There is no stopping Samson by the looks of it. Nothing wrong with the ball. Length on middle and off and Samson makes room outside off and punches this through covers to find the boundary.
RR 61/1 in 7 overs: Rashid Khan comes with the ball. A couple of singles to start the over. Keeps it back of a length. Buttler nudges him around for two singles off the backfoot on the on-side. A length ball turning away outside off and Samson runs it down behind point for a couple. Wade with a good effort in the deep. Punched to long-on for a single by Samson and he keeps strike.
RAJASTHAN ROYALS 55/1 AT THE END OF THE POWERPLAY
RR 55/1 in 6 overs: Joseph into the attack. Nipping in from short of a length into Buttler hops to keep it away desperately. SIX! Erring on the fuller side and this is smoked by Samson over long-on again for half a dozen more. Length ball angling into the pads and Samson misses the pull as the ball loops up off his gloves. SIX! Short going down leg and pulled away with lightning speed over fine-leg for another maximum. Pitched up outside outside off and Samson reaches out but misses. Length ball defended back to the bowler with a straight bat.
RR 42/1 in 5 overs: Shami into his third over. FIVE WIDES! Angling away outside leg and this beats Saha to run away for five wides. Length ball outside off and Buttler taps it gently on the off-side. Driven circumspectly to point by Buttler for a dot. Good yorker on middle and leg and Buttler digs it out well. Pulled away for a single. FOUR! Just short of a length and Samson punches this past a diving mid-on and four runs. FOUR! One more to end the over. This is flicked off the pads over the infield and to the mid-wicket boundary.
RR 28/1 in 4 overs: SIX! First ball and this is dispatched over long-on by Samson. Length on middle and leg and Samson picks it up with ease for a delectable maximum. Hardik doesn't seem happy with the condition of the ball and the umpires are getting it changed after some deliberation. Angling away outside off, just inside the tram-line, and Samson lets it go. FOUR! Full and Samson drives it through the covers. More of a punch on the up than a along the ground drive. This is slightly shorter and Samson punches this to mid-off for a dot ball. Bouncer angling across outside off and Samson lets it pass. Short of a length and Samson defends it back to the bowler off the backfoot. Good comeback by Dayal with those three dot balls in a row.
RR 18/1 in 3 overs: Shami continues. Just short of a full length delivery and Buttler drives it back to the bowler with the inside half of the bat. Too straight this time and flicked away through square leg for a couple. Beaten! On a length, jags back in and beats Buttler's drive. FOUR! Room outside off, full, and driven off the frontfoot through the covers by Buttler. Going down leg side and this is called wide. This one comes in again from a length outside off and beats Buttler's inside edge on the drive. Inside edge onto his thigh pad to end the over.
RR 11/1 in 2 overs: Dayal from the other end. Wide outside off, shaping away and Jaiswal slashes hard and misses. Full and driven straight to mid-off for a dot ball. Full again, wider outside off, and Jaiswal gets an inside edge on the drive and jams this into the pitch. Yorker next ball, and Jaiswal digs it out back to the bowler. Length and pulled away over square leg for a couple. Didn't connect that too well. OUT! Jaiswal slashes hard again outside off and finds an outside edge this time as the ball moves away a bit. Yashasvi Jaiswal c Wriddhiman Saha b Yash Dayal 3(8b).
RR 9/0 in 1 over: First ball coming up. Around the wicket to Jaiswal. Angling down leg-side and Jaiswal misses the flick off his pads. Length ball on the pads again and this is tucked away for a single to deep square leg. Length ball in the channel, not much movement, and Buttler shoulders arms. FOUR! Length again and this is driven away through the covers for a boundary. Nipping in this time from fifth stump and Buttler lifts his bat high to let it pass. FOUR! Full this time outside off and Buttler drives again through the covers for four more runs. Sweetly timed again and a diving mid-off has no chance of stopping it.
Bruce Oxenford and Virender Sharma have walked out onto the field as live action looms. The Gujarat Titans players walk the red carpet as they make their way onto the ground. Buttler and Jaiswal are out to begin the innings for Rajasthan Royals. Shami has the new ball.

What happens if the match is washed out?
A Super Over will decide the result if any of the playoff matches - including the final - is interrupted by the weather and no play is possible in regulation time. However, if the conditions remain unplayable, then the league standings will be used to decide the winner.
"For the Eliminator and each Qualifier playoff matches (where there is no reserve day), in the event that it is not possible to schedule a five-over match to complete by the end of the extra time on the original day, the teams will, if conditions permit, play a Super Over to determine the winner of the relevant Eliminator or Qualifier match," the guidelines stated. The Super Over would need to start at 12.50 am latest for these matches to finish.
If the Super Over is not possible, "the team that finished highest in the league table after the 70 matches of the regular season shall be declared the winner of the relevant playoff match or final".
There is a reserve day for the final.

As the Indian Premier League bandwagon returns to Kolkata after three years for this edition’s first two playoffs matches, the cricket-loving fans will hope that the rain forecast does not come true.
The Qualifier 1, between top-ranked new entrant Gujarat Titans and second-placed Rajasthan Royals – which won the inaugural title in 2008 – at the Eden Gardens here on Tuesday, is expected to be a keenly-contested one as the winner of the match will reach the final. The fact that Titans beat Royals in their only duel five week ago will have little significance as it happened well before the sides hit the reset button.
Ashish Nehra’s cricketing acumen and Hardik Pandya’s pro-active captaincy has built Titans as a formidable unit. Its key members have played their roles well.
While Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha have accumulated crucial runs at the top, Hardik, who is the team’s highest run-scorer with 413 runs, and David Miller have contributed handsomely. Spinner Rashid Khan and pacer Mohammed Shami have taken 18 wickets apiece and Lockie Ferguson has helped in putting the opposition under pressure.
Others have revolved around the key players to enhance the formidability of Titans, which would follow the process that has given it success so far.
Coached by Kumar Sangakkara, the Royals have picked the right personnel and have used them well to reach the playoffs after four years.
Top run-getter Jos Buttler (629) and top wicket-taker Yuzvendra Chahal (26 wickets) have shouldered the bulk of the responsibility. Captain Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal have chipped in when needed. Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna and R. Ashwin have strengthened the bowling department.
While the Royals would like to pay tribute to their former captain and mentor Shane Warne by winning back the trophy, Titans would love to ensure a memorable finish by taking the champion’s tag. The first step towards that should be an exciting one.
