Mumbai is just an over away from registering its first win in the tournament. Kolkata 142/8 after 19 overs.

-WICKET- Pat Cummins' cameo comes to an end as James Pattinson gets the wicket but what a knock, a 12-ball 33 and he certainly showed he can bat.

WICKET - That should be the game for Mumbai as Jasprit Bumrah bowls an exceptional yorker to knock off Andre Russell. Bumrah had one off game and today he has been simply superb. Kolkata needs 96 in 29 balls.

Andre Russell has finally connected and has sent the ball to the boundary twice. But Kolkata needs 96 in 30 deliveries and it's a huge ask. Kolkata 100/4 after 15 overs.

Finally a pressure release shot from Morgan as he dispatches Pattinson over the cow corner but Kolkata needs more. Kolkata 90/4 after 14 overs.

Andre Russell is yet to explode but Jasprit Bumrah is on fire. Gives just four from the over and the Kolkata batsmen are under serious pressure. Kolkata 82/4 after 13 overs.

WICKET - Kieron Pollard picks his first IPL wicket since 2015 but all credit to Hardik Pandya for taking a stunning catch in the deep. One of the top catches this IPL. Kolkata 78/4 after 12 overs

Excellent over from Rahul Chahar as he takes the prized scalp of Dinesh Karthik and gives just a single. Kolkata needs 124 runs from 54 deliveries. Kolkata 72/3 after 11 overs.

No sign of Andre Russell as Eoin Morgan walks in.

WICKET - Big wicket as Rahul Chahar traps Dinesh Karthik and the Kolkata skipper pays the price for going for the sweep and missing it. It looked plumb.

Kolkata is really struggling and with Mumbai drying up the boundaries, it needs a blinder from here to cross the line. Karthik holds the key. Kolkata 71/2 after 10 overs.

Kolkata is slowly gaining momentum and the right-left combination is working for them. Karthik and Rana seem to have adjusted to the slowness of the pitch and aren't hurrying into their shots. Kolkata 64/2 after 9 overs.

50-up for Kolkata: Dinesh Karthik is playing some exquisite shots and the inside-out shot over extra cover was a hallmark of his batting so far. Meanwhile, Nitish Rana is slowly but surely getting into the act. Kolkata 54/2 after 8 overs.

Dinesh Karthik joins Sunil Narine

WICKET - Huge one for Mumbai and it's Boult with the breakthrough. Gill goes for the pull but the bounce got bigger on him as he failed to keep it down and Kieron Pollard at mid-wicket takes a good catch to end the youngster's stay at the crease. Kolkata 18/1 after 3 overs.

Sunil Narine gets the scorecard ticking for Kolkata with a beautiful pick-up shot off James Pattinson that flew over the deep square leg for a maximum. Kolkata 8/0 after 2 overs.

Rohit Sharma has not taken the field. Kieron Pollard is leading the side.

Maiden: Swing, pace, yorker - Trent Boult starts with a maiden over and Shubman Gill had some issues in adjusting to the length. Kolkata 0/0 after 1 over.

Alright Kolkata openers Shubman Gill and Sunil Narine are out there in the middle and it will be Trent Boult with the ball.

End of Innings: Excellent bowling from Shivam Mavi as he chocked the big-hitting Kieron Pollard but Kolkata's fielding cost the side at least a couple of extra runs, which might be crucial if the chase goes down the wire. Mumbai rode on Rohit's 54-ball 80 and Suryakumar Yadav played his part with a 28-ball 47, not to forget Saurabh Tiwary's 13-ball 21. Well Mumbai has got 195 on the board and a good start by Kolkata can spice this run chase. We will be back shortly. Mumbai 195/5 after 20 overs.

Hit-wicket: Oh dear! Hardik Pandya has chopped his bat on the stumps! What a bonus wicket for Kolkata and no one had a clue of what had happened. Pandya, deep in his crease brought his bat down in such a way that it disturbed the off-bail. Mumbai 182/5 after 19 overs.

WICKET - Rohit departs and what an excellent knock this has been. A 54-ball 80 and a well deserved century was denied by Shivam Mavi who picks his second wicket. Could be the turning point for KKR. Kieron Pollard joins Hardik. Mumbai 178/4 after 18 overs.

WICKET - Tiwary's stay at the crease comes to an end as he departs while trying to up the ante. Gets deceived by the pace of pace and fails to clear long-off. Mumbai 148/3 after 16 overs.

Saurabh Tiwary gets into the act as he creams Cummins for a boundary and then for a maximum over long-on. Mumbai all set for a late assault. Mumbai 147/2 after 15 overs.

200th IPL Six: And who better than Rohit Sharma! He is in such good form and middling the ball perfectly, much to the delight of Mumbai. The MI skipper first smoked Kuldeep with a fierce pull over deep mid-wicket and then hit the 200th IPL six with an excellent shot over long-on. Mumbai 132/2 after 14 overs.

Kolkata need to change its plan of bowling short to Rohit as he has been very comfortable and this time he slaps Warrier over extra cover for a boundary. 10 from the over and with a well-set Rohit in, Mumbai will aim to accelerate. Mumbai 115/2 after 13 overs.

Fifty for Rohit: Excellent half-century from the Mumbai skipper and he is looking in good touch. There is a slight dip in momentum but Rohit has the capability to change gears swiftly. Mumbai 105/2 after 12 overs.

Saurabh Tiwary is the new man in.

WICKET - Kolkata finally manage to break the stand and it's the pressure that has got the Kinghts the wicket. It was a tight call for a second but Suryakumar responds to his captain's call and Morgan dislodges the bails. Mumbai 99/2 after 11 overs.

Kuldeep bowls a much controlled over as six runs comes of the 10th over. Mumbai in control with both Rohit and Suryakumar batting on 45. Mumbai 94/1 after 10 overs.

Finally, some respite for Kolkata as Sunil Narine gives just five runs and there is some sharp turn. Going to be a crucial passage of play. Mumbai 88/1 after 9 overs.

Time for a break and Kolkata was in desperate need for this.

Kuldeep Yadav started off well but Suryakumar Yadav skips down the track and plays a brilliant inside out shot and the ball sailed over the extra cover region. Jeez! That was a top shot. Mumbai 83/1 after 8 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav into the attack and Kolkata in desperate need for a wicket.

Rohit Sharma is racing for something very special. He welcomes Andre Russell into the attack with a pull over deep mid-wicket and then nailed a short one over the deep square leg for a maximum. Mumbai 72/1 after 7 overs.

50-run stand Both Suryakumar and Rohit have taken a liking for the deep mid-wicket region as Surya welcomes Sunil Narine with two exquisite boundaries and the 50-run stand is up for the second wicket. Kolkata needs to stop this partnership. Else it will be chasing leather. Mumbai 59/1 after 6 overs.

Rohit Sharma is in his zone today and there is no stopping...The Hitman first smacked Pat Cummins over the deep mid-wicket region and then follows it up with another massive one in the penultimate delivery of the over. 15 comes off Cummins over. Mumbai 48/1 after 5 overs.

Rohit and Suryakumar have started picking the gaps but Mavi is bowling a good line. Mumbai 33/1 after 4 overs.

Wicket-Maiden: Great start from Shivam Mavi as he gets the breakthrough with the wicket of Quinton de Kock and then tests Suryakumar with some quality bowling. There is a hint of movement and he is exploiting the conditions. Good start. Mumbai 8/1 after 2 overs.

Suryakumar Yadav joins Rohit

WICKET - Mavi strikes in his very first over and what a start for KKR. Digs in short, de Kock goes for the pull, gets a top-edge and Nikhil Naik settles under the skier at mid-wicket.

Shivam Mavi into the attack

Mumbai is away as after a very good start, Rohit Sharma opens his arms smacks Sandeep Warrier over deep point for a six. Meanwhile, Quinton de Kock is also off the mark. Mumbai 8/0 after 1 over.

The players are out there in the middle and it will be Rohit Sharma along with Quinton de Kock for Mumbai. With the ball, it will be Sandeep Warrier. Here we go!

Kieron Pollard is set to make his 150th IPL appearance for Mumbai Indians tonight. He was presented with a special jersey ahead of the clash.

Playing XI:

Kolkata Knight Riders: Sunil Narine, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik (WK/C), Nikhil Naik, Pat Cummins, Kuldeep Yadav, Sandeep Warrier, Shivam Mavi

Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma(c), Quinton de Kock(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Saurabh Tiwary, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, James Pattinson, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah

Toss: Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and Dinesh Karthik elects to bowl first.

Dinesh Karthik: We will bowl first. We saw the first game, there was some dew, so we want to make use of it. Really proud to start the tournament today. We got Morgan, Cummins, Russell and Narine. I think they're really looking forward to this. We are looking forward to the young guys.

Rohit: What happened in the past it's past. There are some areas where we need to rectify. Hopefully we don't make those mistakes. We are playing with the same XI. Having someone like Pollard in the squad is always nice. He is a massive player for us, hopefully he'll come out and enjoy his game, like he always goes. Malinga like Pollard, has been a massive player for us. It was unfortunate that he couldn't make it due to personal reasons. That gives an opportunity to others. We need to enjoy our cricket as a squad.

Pitch Report: JP Duminy and Deep Dasgupta reckon that there is a bit of grass on the surface but it is dry and hard. The experts feel, wind will play a big factor in Abu Dhabi and that the wind will help hit towards the pavilion, but that is the longer boundary. However, the wind will help the bowler when the batsmen try hitiing towards the shorter boundary.

Clash of IPL heavyweights and Mumbai Indians will be eager to turn things around after its loss against Chennai Super Kings, while Kolkata will aim to start things on a clean slate. Stay tuned as we bring the Toss, Playing XI and all the match details in a while.
