KKR vs SRH Highlights, IPL 2023: Hyderabad beats Kolkata by 23 runs

What a game of cricket we had and ultimately it’s Hyderabad who has come out as winners with Rinku Singh finishing unbeaten on 58 off 31 balls. Top knock but in vain.

A couple of opportunities have gone begging for SRH as KKR drags the match into the last over with Hyderabad being way too poor on the field. Very sloppy from Hyderabad as Kolkata needs 32 from 6 balls with Rinku Singh on strike.

Top over from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and he almost removes Shardul Thakur but Aiden Markram fails to latch on to a tough chance.

Nitish Rana falls as it’s Natarajan with the wicket. Tred to go over the off-side, doesn’t get the distance and the KKR skipper falls for a brilliant 41-ball 75 with six sixes and five boundaries.

Rinku Singh is a star!. Punishes Jansen for two sixes to keep Kolkata in the hunt and with Washington Sundar dropping a catch, there seems to be absolutely no communication in the SRH camp!

Hyderabad went for a review and they thought they had trapped Rinku Singh. It was a very poor review as the ball bumped en route its way to the keeper and the decision was reversed.

A beautiful release of the shot from the bat as Rinku Singh goes over the long-on for a maximum and then Rana smashes a boundary to keep Kolkata going. However, Hyderabad is very much in control as Kolkata needs 94 runs from 36 balls.

Mayank Markande finishes his overs with 4-0-27-2 and that’s a brilliant spell consodering the circumstances.

An excellent half-century from Nitish Rana and the skipper has played from the front. KKR needs 118 from 48 balls and although it is tough, with Rinku Singh at the other end, anything is possible.

Russell falls and it’s Markande with excellent control of line and length, gets Russell as the batsman gets a lot of height but no distance. Wicket and three runs, and that’s a top over from Narkande.

Marco Jansen is back into the attack and he has bowled really well, angling into the pads and not giving the batsmen any room. The bowler did over-step but bowled a brilliant yorker and not giving the batsman the chance to go over the top .But, Rana plays a brilliant shot and smokes the bowler for a maximum to keep Kolkata in the game.

Mayank Markande strikes and that’s a timely blow for Kolkata as Jagadeesan holes it out to the deed with Glenn Phillips taking an excellent catch. Andre Russell joins Nitish Rana with KKR needing 144 from 66 balls.

Jagadeesan is playing a beautiful knock having scored 36 off 19 and the point to be noted is the five boundaries at a strike rate of 180.00. Skipper Rana is also playing a lovely hand at the other end.

Runs flowing thick and fast for Kolkata with Jagadeesan handed life and the batsmen picks a boundary as Hyderabad has pressed the panic button! That’s what it seems as of now as there is absolute no control with the bowlers erring in line and length.

Nitish Rana has dismantled Umran Malik and these are worrying signs for Hyderabad. The bowler was given a field but he never bowled to the field as Rana took full effect of the raw pace by smashing Umran for 26 runs in his opening over and the obsession of pace costing Hyderabad with the bowler conceding five boundaries and a six. Poor bowling.

Brilliant shot from Jagadeesan as he lofts Natarajan over the bowler’s head and that’s a 12-run over from KKR. Much-needed impetus but Hyderabad in an advantageous situation.

Two wickets in one over and Marco Jansen has put Hyderabad on top. Venkatesh Iyer and Sunil Narine fall as Jansen makes good use of the bounce and pace on offer.

Bhuvneshwar drops Jagadeesan, and although it was a tough catch, the bowler could have latched on to it. Iyer smacks a boundary to keep the home crowd entertained.

Marco Jansen begins well and gives just three runs in his opening over. Iyer and Jagadeesan hold key in a tall run chase.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and N Jagadeesan begin the innings with Gurbaz falling early as Bhuvneshwar Kumar removes the KKR opener for a duck. Gurbaz intended to go over the cover region but ended up offering a simple catch to the man at third man.

What a masterclass innings from Harry Brook as the Englishman hits a brilliant 100 off just 55 balls with 12 boundaries and 3 sixes as Kolkata needs 229 runs to win the contest.

Andre Russell has struggled with cramps and has walked off the field and Shardul Thakur completes his over. Brook picked a boundary and then Klassen colected a couple more to push Hyderbad to a very comfortable position.

Abhishek Sharma plays a wonderful shot as the southpaw takes on Varun and dispatches the spinner for a maximum over the deep mid-wicket and then Brook enters into the 90s and brings the 200 for SRH.

Narine finished his quota of four overs and although he didn’t pick a wicket, Abhishek Sharma smokes the spinner for a maximum as Narine ends with figures of 4-0-28-0.

Harry Brook almost smashed the bowler and the umpire and the Englishman has moved into the eighties and has punished the Kolkata bowlers for dropping him. Any width from the bowlers is being taken to task and Abhishek joins the party by smashing Suyash for a boundary.

Brook is in full flow and this has been fantastic batting. A 92m six followed by a successful review for a caught behind and then five boundaries, including a six, Brook has helped Sunrisers cross the 150-run mark. Excellent batting and this has been a batting exhibition from the Sunrisers’ opener.

Shardul Thakur drops Abhishek Sharma and it was a very casual approach from the all-rounder. An absolute sitter and Shardul denied Suyash Sharma his maiden wicket in the match.

Varun Chakravarthy strikes and Aiden Markram falls for a 26-ball 50. Great sense of anticipation from Varun as he removes the pace, bowls a slower one and breaks the 72-run stand as Markram went on one knee and employed the sweep but failed the clear the man at the deep. An important wicket for Kolkata.

The fifty-run partnership is up between Markram and Brook and 16 runs come from Suyash Sharma’s over. Markram smashes a googly into the mid-wicket stands and then brings out the reverse targetting the deep point boundary. Successful over for Hyderabad.

Narine bowls yet another economical over but Harry Brook reaches his half-century and this has been a wonderful half-century from the opener. The move to promote Brook up the order has paid rich dividends for Hyderabad.

Suyash Sharma hands Brook a life as the leg-spinner fails to hold on to a return catch. Markram then punishes the spinner with a brilliant six over the long-off. Top shot from the SRH skipper.

Time out! Narine rolls out a brilliant over and gives just five runs with Brook trying to take the attacking route but is not successful. Kolkata trying to make further inroads and Sunrisers trying to capitalise on the start.

Varun Chakravarthy sneaks in another economical over with Brook approaching his half-century. The opener is in good form and making the most of his promotion as an opener.

Russell into the attack picks a couple of wickets and is off the attack as the physio rushes in and the all-rounder if off the park. He is on his knees, and Markram gets going with a brilliant six over the deep square leg boundary.

Varun Chakravarthy into the attack and he starts decently by giving eight runs from his opening over. SRH skipper Aiden Markram joins Harry Brook and Hyderabad has done well in its PowerPlay going at around 11 rpo.

Russel strikes and he picks two in his opening over. Mayank Agarwal’s poor form continues as the opener falls while trying to guide the ball to the third man but finds Chakravarthy inside the ring and then the all-rounder removes Tripathi, the key batsman for Hyderbad.

KKR has stopped the flow of boundaries with Nitish Rana introducing Sunil Narine. Just three runs from the over and Narine shows his class with an excellent over.

Brook has got off the blocks in a flash and dispatched Umesh Yadav for a couple of maximums and as Harsha Bhogle says on air, “Harry Brook has arrived in the IPL.” Top knock and a great start to the innings.

Lockie Ferguson with black shoes steams in from the other end and the focus will be on Mayank Agarwal. The opener has struggled to get going in this tournament, so far. Brook dispatches a slower one through the covers for a boundary and Hyderabad is off to a sedate start.

Harry Brook is off the mark with a brilliant boundary as he punishes Umesh Yadav for erring in line and offering width outside the off stump. The Englishman stands deep in his crease and pulls Umesh through the mid-wicket to give Sunrisers a good start. He then moves across the stumps and plays a wonderful ramp shot to pick three boundaries in the first over.
