Shreyas Iyer:
The mindset we came up in this game, it was outstanding. All the boys did the right things, played fearless cricket. It was really important to win the toss. The teams batting first have won a lot of matches. Everything panned out really well. We were going over-by-over. The plan was to give Russell the strike as much as possible. We knew Washi had one over left, that was the over we were going to target. It worked out pretty well, hope it works out well in the final game as well. It was an over-par total. Sunil and Varun stepped-up, they bowled smart and got crucial wickets. We never allowed them to get under our skins, kudos to that. We have nothing to losing now. We haven't played our A-game yet, that's what I spoke today. When I took the CEO's name, I wanted to say that he's there to console the players who've been sitting out. It's tough for us as well while picking teams.

Kane Williamson:The first half was largely good. Dre Russ is always a threat. Showed his class. We tried to create partnerships but KKR were really good. We have been struggling with creating momentum in the last few games. Sundar stepped up in the last over. Using our resources a little early didn't work for us today. We wanted to get off to a good start. We wanted to get some momentum. There were glimpses and signs but wasn't to be. The run rate got up and we were not able to pull it back. The game teaches us lessons and I am learning it right now.

SRH in IPL 2022: LL | WWWWW | LLLLL*

KKR's NRR jumps from -0.057 to 0.160.

SRH 123/8 in 20 overs: Fuller delivery from Russell and Bhuvneshwar smokes it through extra cover for FOUR. Three dots to follow as Bhuvneshwar does not find any merit in a single. And he finally crosses over with a push to long-on. Swing and a miss to finish and Kolkata stays alive in the playoffs race with a 54-run win. The fight is ON between seven teams for three spots!

SRH 117/8 in 19 overs: Southee to Shashank. OUT! Southee drops another slower-ball on length and Shashank sends it straight up. Shreyas Iyer runs back from mid-off to complete a fine catch and KKR is storming towards a big win here. A quick bumper from Southee and Umran skies it to mid-wicket. Substitute fielder Shivam Mavi makes an absolute meal of it and also concedes an overthrow past the bowler. Southee is livid as Umran survives.

Shashank Singh c SS Iyer b Southee 11 (12b 1x4)

SRH 113/7 in 18 overs: Slower bumper and Sundar mistimes the flick off his top-hand to Venkatesh at mid-wicket. Shashank swats the shorter ball down square leg and Rinku overruns the ball to send it to the fence for FOUR. A single to long-on to follow. Slower-ball and Jansen nicks it straight to a diving Billings first ball. What a night this is for big Dre!

Washington Sundar c VR Iyer b Russell 4 (9b), Jansen c Billings b Russell 1 (2b)

SRH needs 71 runs in 18 balls

SRH 107/5 in 17 overs: Southee hits the deck hard and the batters exchange strike with three singles. Loud shout as Southee hits the pads and given! Southee rolls in an off-cutter to stifle Shashank. SRH takes the review and the decision is overturned. The replays suggest that the ball is sailing over the wickets.

SRH needs 77 runs in 24 balls

SRH 101/5 in 16 overs: Chakravarthy sends in a slider and Shashank misses a paddle sweep and the ball hits the pads. KKR go up for a review after the umpire denies an lbw. The decision stands with umpire's call on wickets. Shreyas Iyer is in disbelief. Varun finishes his quote with a brilliant over, just the one run coming off it as he ends with figures of 1/25 in four.

SRH 100/5 in 15 overs: Umesh sends in a shorter delivery and Markram hammers it down the ground for another SIX.  Dragged on! Umesh sends in a sharp delivery on the full and Markram gets an inside-edge back to the stumps. That must in some certainty seal this match in KKR's favour. Shashank in at 7.

Aiden Markram b Yadav 32 (25b 3x6)

Umesh returns

SRH 91/4 in 14 overs: Markram swings big and finally gets a firm connection over the fence. Varun hits the fuller length and Markram muscles it over long-on for SIX. Short ball and Markram whips the ball down the ground for another SIX! Varun wafts in a couple of deliveries towards the middle-stump to hold Markram back. A single to finish.

SRH 78/4 in 13 overs: Narine to Pooran. OUT! Narine darts one in quickly and Pooran lobs it straight back. Easy catch for the bowler as Sunrisers stutter with the asking rate shooting up.  Sundar in at 6.

Nicholas Pooran c & b Narine 2 (3b)

SRH 74/3 in 12 overs: Markram attempts to break free with a slog over mid-off and nearly finds Russell on the full near the fence. Varun to Abhishek. Top-edge and Abhishek perishes! The pressure of the run-rate gets to Abhishek as Markram fails to take charge. He attempts a slog-sweep but Varun's pace dominates the blade. The ball lobs up high over square and Billings covers some ground to pouch the ball safely.

Abhishek Sharma c †Billings b Varun 43 (28b 4x4 2x6)

Varun returns

SRH 69/2 in 11 overs: Narine fires one in on a fuller length and Markram attempts to cut off the backfoot but misses. Narine gets some turn off the surface to cramp the batter. He bites the outside-edge with a delivery that turns from leg-stump. A single nevertheless for Markram. The chase gets stiffer by the minute for SRH.

SRH 65/2 in 10 overs: Russell continues to hit the hard lengths. Markram and Abhishek are working through the partnership with a slew of singles.

Russell replaces Narine

SRH 57/2 in 9 overs: Southee holds onto a stunner! Tripathi fires one back with full force and Southee clings onto a sensational catch off his own bowling. SRH are feeling the heat now with two quick wickets. Markram in at 4.  He pushes the ball to long-on for a single and gets off the mark.

Rahul Tripathi c & b Southee 9 (12b 1x4)

Southee returns

SRH 54/1 in 8 overs: Narine flights one in and Abhishek slog sweeps it out of the ground for a massive SIX. Similar lines and a similar result. This time Abhishek sends it a lot straighter down the ground for another SIX.

SRH 37/1 in 7 overs: Chakravarthy maintains solid lengths to the batters. Tripathi and Abhishek work along the gaps for six runs.

Varun Chakravarthy into the attack

SRH 31/1 in 6 overs: Russell cleans up Williamson. He shuffles across for a ramp and Russell skids through to hit the stumps.  Tripathi in at 3. A mix-up nearly has Tripathi short of his crease after being sent back by his partner. Excellent finish to the PowerPlay for KKR.

Kane Williamson b Russell 9 (17b 1x4)

Russell into the attack

SRH 30/0 in 5 overs: Fabulous stuff from Umesh again as he concedes just three runs from the over. Williamson continues to crawl along.

SRH 27/0 in 4 overs: Short ball to begin and Abhishek tonks the ball straight over the bowler for FOUR. Narine has perhaps used a seam-up delivery there.  A single to follow. Williamson pushes the ball down to long-on for another single.

Narine replaces Southee

SRH 17/0 in 3 overs: Umesh spills a chance! He sends in a low full-toss to Williamson who slaps it straight back to the bowler who puts down a tough catch. Umesh follows up with a length delivery and Williamson punches it over mid-wicket for FOUR.

SRH 11/0 in 2 overs: Southee begins with a loosener and Abhishek punches the ball through cover off the back-foot for FOUR. Southee quickly changes to around the wicket. Southee slides one in and Abhishek chips the ball inches short off Russell at mid-on.  Southee slides one in to Williamson who works it to backward point for a single.  Short again and Abhishek cuts it fiercely past backward point for FOUR.

Tim Southee from the opposite end

SRH 1/0 in 1 over: Umesh runs in visibly slower while delivering the bowler. Three deliveries on the trot hit the middle-stump line and Abhishek gets off the blocks with a slice down to third-man. Umesh continues to maintain a sharp line to Williamson. He finishes up with a delivery angling towards the pads and Williamson flicks it straight to short mid-wicket.

Umesh Yadav up with the new ball

Back for the chase. Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson open for SRH.

KKR were staring down the barrel when they lost three wickets in succession to the menacing Umran Malik. They were left reeling at 83 for four after the fall of skipper Iyer. Natarajan foxed Rinku Singh up next before Russell and Billings joined hands. Billings and Russell measured their attack to perfection as they faced a blockhole barrage from Natarajan, Umran and Bhuvneshwar. In the end, Russell's sheer power snuck through every time the bowlers missed their radar, even by the slightest of margins. KKR have got enough runs on the board and now require a strong defence with the ball to remain in the playoffs race.

Andre Russell: The guys were bowling well and the execution was on point, especially the seamers. I was miserable, but if I stay I know we can get 170. Based on the wicket, it looks good and 170 is definitely a good score on this wicket. If we get one or two wickets early in the powerplay, we can definitely peg them back. Hard length, straight and mix up pace as well (right length to bowl?). Some balls are holding up.

Fastest batters to reach 2000 IPL runs (balls faced): Andre Russell - 1120*, Virender Sehwag - 1211, Chris Gayle - 1251, Rishabh Pant - 1306, Glenn Maxwell - 1309

KKR 177/6 in 20 overs:
Sundar darts one into the blockhole and Russell drills it down the ground but only gets a single. Narine's on strike. He gets a single with a push to long-off. Full toss and Russell pumps it over mid-wicket for SIX! Sundar finds the blockhole this time and Russell does not after driving it down to long-off. Low full-toss and Russell sends the ball over wide long-on for SIX on one knee! Another full-toss and Russell nonchalantly tonks the ball over deep mid-wicket for SIX and finishes the innings in style.

Sundar up for the final over. Hmm...

KKR 157/6 in 19 overs: Bhuvneshwar fires the ball past Russell's low blade to hit the pads. He mixes up his lengths and shuffles his line well away from Russell's arc. He gets off strike with a single. Slower-bouncer outside the off-stump and Billings lifts it straight to Williamson at cover who completes his 100th T20 catch.

Sam Billings c Williamson b Kumar 34 (29b 3x4 1x6)

KKR 151/5 in 18 overs: Natarajan hits the yorker length as Billings attempts to sweep. Loud shout from the bowler but the umpire is unmoved. SRH opts for a review but the replays suggest a clear spike off the bat. Natarajan hits the radar again. Another sharp delivery in the blockhole nutmegs Billings on its way to the keeper. Natarajan errs this time with a full-length delivery and Billings tonks it off his base for a SIX over long-off.

KKR 142/5 in 17 overs: Low full-toss and Russell tonks it through mid-wicket for FOUR. He becomes the fastest batter to reach 2000 IPL runs (in terms of balls taken - 1120).  Bhuvi rushes one to Russell's pads and he whips it through wide long-on for another FOUR.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar into the attack

KKR 129/5 in 16 overs: Umran begins with a fiery ball in the blockhole as Billings makes room but fails to put bat on ball. Short from Umran and Billings slaps the ball over cover for FOUR. Stand and delivery. Umran drops one in the slot and Billings lofts it handsomely over the bowler for FOUR. Umran comes around the wicket to Russell and nearly hits the top of leg-stump as Russell misses out on a rash heave.

KKR 119/5 in 15 overs: Natarajan sends in a low full toss to Russell who drills it down to deep mid-wicket. A sharp throw from the deep blocks Russell's second run and he's nearly caught short of his crease at the non-striker's by the bowler. Natarajan continues to find the blockhole as the batters resort to singles.  Full-toss and Russell sends it out of the park! Goodness me, the sound off the willow just tells you the might of that hit. The ball fires deep into the high stands over mid-wicket, well up there with the cleanest hits of the season.

KKR 109/5 in 14 overs: A hint of room and Russell whacks it past mid-off for FOUR. Umran drops short and Russell attempts to slash but misses. Umran continues to drop short to Russell, the extra pace makes it difficult for the batter to get one right off his arc. Three singles on the trot and Umran goes wide down leg to Billings.  Billings attempts the ramp but Umran gushes through with a fuller delivery to the keeper.

Umran into the attack

KKR 100/5 in 13 overs: Jansen pins Russell deep into the crease with a couple of inch-perfect landings in the blockhole. Hundred up for KKR as Jansen concedes four from the over.

Jansen replaces Sundar

KKR 96/5 in 12 overs: Natarajan zips one into the blockhole and hits Rinku's pads on the flush. Loud shout from the bowler and the umpire has a long thought before raising his finger! Seems like we have a bit of a mix-up here. The umpires signal Rinku he's out of time for a review as he asks one post 15 seconds. Billings suggests that he raised the call for his partner within the time-limit. The umpires have a word with the batters and Rinku has to depart.  Nevertheless, Natarajan was at his best on that one. He pins it right under the bat to leave Rinku with no time to react. Russell in at 6. Another one lands right in the blockhole and Russell wades out of danger as he lowers his anchor.

Rinku Singh lbw b Natarajan 5 (6b)

Natarajan returns

KKR 89/4 in 11 overs: Sundar fends a tad short and Billings unleashes a reverse sweep past deep point for FOUR.  Sundar keeps the batters under check for the rest of the over.

Rinku Singh joins Billings

KKR 83/4 in 10 overs: Bang on the money as Umran fires one into Billings' defence in front of the stumps. A single to follow. Umran fires one up of the shorter length to Iyer who arches back for an upper-cut but misses. Excellent riposte from the KKR skipper as he pummels the next delivery down the ground for FOUR.  Umran tails the ball in and Iyer flicks it straight to the deep mid-wicket fielder! Third wicket for the fiery paceman as KKR tumbles further.

Shreyas Iyer c Tripathi b Umran Malik 15 (9b 2x4)

KKR 78/3 in 9 overs: Sundar continues to follow aggressive lines. Iyer and Billings keep themselves with singles. Six runs off it.

KKR 73/3 in 8 overs: Umran begins with a 147kph delivery on length and Rana slices it down to third-man for a single. Umran fires the ball into the stumps and Rahane works it off his feet for a single to deep midwicket. He touches 150kph with that ball! Short ball and taken! Rana sheepishly flicks the ball off his waist, straight to the deep square-leg fielder. Umran Malik ends his wicket-less rut of three matches with a crucial breakthrough.  Shreyas Iyer in at 4. Streaky! Umran pushes the ball further up and Iyer slashes it just over the reach of the backward point fielder for FOUR. Umran tucks one in and Iyer nonchalantly flicks it past mid-on for three runs as Bhuvneshwar Kumar puts in an excellent done to save a single. Short delivery outside the off-stump and Rahane holes out to a fantastic catch by Shashank Singh at deep point! Umran is on a roll as SRH doubles down on KKR in quick time.

Nitish Rana c Shashank Singh b Umran Malik 26 (16b 1x4 3x6); Ajinkya Rahane c Shashank Singh b Umran Malik 28 (24b 3x6)

Umran Malik replaces Jansen

KKR 63/1 in 7 overs: Sundar loops the ball in and Rahane struggles while prodding forward to defend. A loose shot of discomfort follows over mid-off and he gets a single. Rana flicks the ball to square-leg and pushes his partner for a single. Sundar tosses one in and Rahane powers the ball from a rigid stance over Jansen at long-on. No feet movement, understandably so and Rahane will seemingly throw his bat at everything which will come his way now.

Washington Sundar into the attack

Ajinkya Rahane is struggling with an injury. A check with the physio follows.

KKR 55/1 in 6 overs: Rahane goes downtown as he lofts Jansen's length delivery over long-on for SIX. Rahane tucks the ball to deep fine leg and picks up two runs. Single to follow. Short ball and Rana upper-cuts over the slip-cordon for another beautiful SIX! Fifty up for KKR as Rana flips the switch with an aggressive start. Two good overs have helped KKR finish the PowerPlay on a high.

KKR's highest powerplay scores in IPL 2022: 64-1 vs MI, 57-1 vs RR, 55-1 vs SRH

KKR 38/1 in 5 overs: Crunched! Rana greets Natarajan with a full-bloodied drive down the ground for FOUR. Length ball and Rana hammers the ball over mid-on for SIX! Short ball and Rana swivels to parry the ball over short fine leg for another SIX.  18 off the over with two singles to finish.

Natarajan replaces Bhuvneshwar

KKR 20/1 in 4 overs: Jansen gives nothing away to the batters. He nearly gets the outside-edge off Rahane as he zips one past the off-stump.

KKR 18/1 in 3 overs: Bhuvneshwar cramps up Rahane with three dots. A single follows as Rahane pushes one past mid-off. Bhuvi persists with nagging lines to Rana who lets two deliveries pass on length outside the off-stump.

KKR 17/1 in 2 overs: Jansen angles the ball in and Iyer pushes it to mid-on for a single. Short ball and Rahane swivels to send the ball off his hips over backward square for SIX.  Jansen straightens his line and Rahane defends firmly to cover.  Single to follow. Dragged on, Jansen strikes in his first over! Venkatesh attempts to cut the ball inches away from his body and crashes his stumps.

Venkatesh Iyer b Jansen 7 (6b 1x4)

Marco Jansen into the attack

SRH 9/0 in 1 over: Venkatesh off the mark straightaway. Bhuvneshwar tucks one to the body and Iyer flicks it down leg for a single. A hint of shape for Bhuvi offers as Rahane misses out on the cut. Bhuvneshwar angles one in and Rahane gets off strike with a leg bye. Bhuvi pitches one up on the full and Iyer pounces on it with a solid punch down the ground for FOUR.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar with the new ball. Venkatesh on strike.

Game on. Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane walk out to the middle as Kane Williamson's Sunrisers take the field.

With the Gujarat Titans sealing its playoffs spot and both CSK and MI out of the race, seven teams are placed in a mid-table tussle for three spots with 10 matches to go. Here's a look at the playoffs qualification scenario for each team: IPL 2022 playoffs qualification scenario explained

TOSS: Kolkata wins the toss, opts to bat

Shreyas Iyer: We will bat first here. If you the record here, teams batting first have done well and batting first also suits us. Forced to make changes this time. Pat is injured, so Umesh comes in and Sheldon Jackson comes in too. We came to the core strength we started with and we got a good start.

Kane Williamson: We have played on this surface the other day and we were looking to bat as well. Natarajan and Washington are back. Jansen is back in for Farooqi as well. We haven't been quite at our best in the last few games. So we want to turn that around.

Some Kiwi reunion!   -  SPORTZPICS

Shreyas Iyer and Kane Williamson are at the centre.

TOSS at 7PM....

Pitch Report from Deep Dasgupta: The nature of the pitch has changed over the last one-and-a-half months. There is a bit of live grass. The greenness of the grass and firmness tells there will be something for the seamers. For batting, it will come onto the bat. It looks like the batsmen will have the last laugh.

6:40PM: Umesh Yadav, T Natarajan and Washington Sundar -
are all out in the field for warmups. Would we see the three return for their respective sides tonight?

6:15PM: Kane Williamson's perils at the top of the order has impacted SRH's recent troubles. Williamson has been caught in a rut. His strike-rate of 96.13 is the lowest among all batters to face a minimum of 100 balls this season. Could the Kiwi legend flip his fortunes tonight?

Williamson in IPL 2022: 11 innings, 199 runs, HS 57, AVE 19.90, SR 96.13, 50s 1

6:00PM IST: Fresh from his appointment as England men's new Test coach, Brendon McCullum would hope to finish his IPL 2022 campaign with KKR on a high. Two games to go with a stake for the playoffs still in hand.

MATCH PREVIEW

Neither Kolkata Knight Riders nor Sunrisers Hyderabad, who square up at the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium here on Saturday, can afford another loss in the Indian Premier League.

And given their position in the points table, a win won’t be enough to take either team to the playoffs.

The last game at the picturesque venue on the outskirts of the city that was once referred to as pensioner’s paradise will also be the Knight Riders’ penultimate game of the season.

Shreyas Iyer’s boys know that to prolong Brendon McCullum’s stint as head coach by a week before he takes over as the coach of the England Test team, they have to win both their remaining games and then hope for other results to go their way.

ALSO READ - Umran Malik: I'm ready to play for India'

Just when the Knight Riders appeared to finally get the balance of their XI right, they will need to find a suitable replacement for Pat Cummins, who has returned home following a hip injury.

All eyes on Williamson, Tripathi

Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, is in a slightly better position, at least on paper. With three games in hand, they will not be out of contention even with a loss. But the four-match losing streak that the team is on is annihilating the gains made after an unbeaten five-match run earlier in the tournament.

As a result, Kane Williamson & Co. will be desperate to return to winning ways. The onus will be on the captain to find form with the willow. Besides, the team will also be looking forward to Rahul Tripathi to repeat his last month’s exploits against his former IPL outfit.

If Tripathi sizzles at his home ground, he can keep his team in the hunt and sound a death-knell to KKR’s campaign.
