Chennai Super Kings opener Faf du Plessis pulled off a stellar save against Delhi Capitals in the Qualifier II fixture in Visakhapatnam on Friday.

After opting to field first, CSK sat on top of DC for most of the latter’s innings. Tail-enders Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma smashed a couple of fours and a six to balance the early collapse.

In the 19th over, Mishra connected a slot delivery by Deepak Chahar. The clean strike would have been a maximum had Faf not intervened. He ran to his right, flew in the air, caught the ball and released it before landing on the other side of the rope.

Highlights| CSK vs DC Qualifier II

DC ended at 147 for the loss of nine wickets.

Faf looked slightly uncomfortable as he landed on his shoulders, but he recovered in time to pad up for the 148-run chase.

The right-hander smashed a 39-ball 50 to set the stage for the M.S. Dhoni-led side.

The winner of the match will meet Mumbai Indians in the final on May 12 in Hyderabad.

Faf had been part of a similar fielding tutorial against Royal Challengers Bangalore, when he helped Dhruv Shorey catch Marcus Stoinis at deep by the sheer virtue of his reflex. He caught the batsman and threw the ball at the adjacent fielder (Shorey) before crossing over to the other side.
