The 11th edition of the Indian Premier League will begin with a clash between defending champion Mumbai Indians and two-time winner Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 7 (Saturday).
Fans in Chennai and Jaipur will get their share of the IPL frenzy as M.A. Chidambaram Stadium and the Sawai Mansingh Stadium will host home matches of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals respectively.
Chennai's first home match will be against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 10.
Rajasthan Royals will return to its home base of Jaipur for the forthcoming edition since the state government has assured smooth conduct of matches at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium. Just in case of any further problem, Pune is on stand-by to host Royals' home games.
Kings XI Punjab will be the only franchise to split its home games in two different cities, with the team set to play four home games in Mohali while three at Indore, its adopted home for the season.
Adhering to the demand of the franchises to stick to original timings, the IPL has confirmed that the match timings will remain 4pm (12 matches) and 8pm (48) for the forthcoming edition.
The much-anticipated final between the winner of Qualifier 1 and the winner of Qualifier 2 will be played at Wankhede Stadium on May 27 (Sunday). Interestingly, the IPL hasn't announced venues for the eliminator and the playoff 2. While a lobby is pushing hard for Lucknow to be allotted those two games, the Maharashtra Cricket Association has staked a claim to host these two matches.
