A day after Kings XI Punjab’s Glenn Maxwell was sent home due to a side strain, team-mate Marcus Stoinis has also joined the list of Australian players leaving the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 26-year-old all-rounder declared 'family issue' as the reason behind his withdrawal from the tournament, cricket.com.au reported.

Stoinis has notched up a total of 146 runs in his five innings and bagged eight wickets for the Kings XI, which are out of the contention for the IPL playoffs.

With the withdrawal, Stoinis becomes the sixth Australian player to have left the IPL early this season after Mitchell Marsh, skipper Steve Smith, Shaun Marsh, John Hastings and Maxwell, who were all ruled out of the tournament due to their respective injuries.

Smith, Mitchell Marsh and Maxwell are expected to get fit ahead of next month’s Caribbean tri-series, which will also feature South Africa.
