Mumbai Indians has not been in good form this season. However, it is still in the race for the playoffs. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on the other hand, has had a decent run, so far, and is well in the race for the playoffs. As the two sides face off on Sunday in Mumbai, a heated battle is on the cards between two star players, Mayank Markande and Dinesh Karthik.
Markande, 20, has been on a roll with the ball for MI and has grabbed eyeballs. He has claimed 12 wickets from nine games, and is a strong contender for the Purple Cap this season. He has a tough competitor in team-mate Hardik Pandya, who too has claimed 12 scalps so far.
However, things might not go as smoothly for the young lad, as he is certain to face stiff competition from KKR's skipper Dinesh Karthik, who has been in rousing form. He is the top run-scorer for the side, so far, this season, and his fearless and flawless batting has got everyone talking. He might not be a contender for the Orange Cap, for now. However, another good game for him can change everything.
With MI's fate hanging in balance, it cannot afford to lose the match against KKR. So, Markande has a huge task on hand to restrict an in-form Karthik, as well as the other batsmen in the side.
