Gujarat Lions, which is at the bottom of the table, will be desperate for a few wins on the trot.

Gujarat Lions (GL) assistant coach Sitanshu Kotak does not feel that his team is missing a top class pacer in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL).

Asked whether GL missed a trick by not buying a quality fast bowler, Kotak said, “I don't think so. When you are losing, everything goes against you. We have a better pace attack this year with more options. When you are losing, you always feel some things could have been done differently.”

Ahead of GL’s away match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens here, Kotak said his side, placed at the bottom with just one win, could still bounce back.

“We got a good start last season. It has not been like that this time. We lost a few close matches. In the last match (against Royal Challengers Bangalore) the (Chris) Gayle innings turned it around. He was dropped on the boundary by McCullum, the fielder's hat touched the ropes. It can happen. Last year we lost five-six matches on the trot and still needed to win the last match to qualify.

“This time, we have lost four matches but still there is opportunity to win some games and script a comeback.”

“We have to keep fighting. Sometimes luck goes here and there and someone performs outstandingly. Sometimes you get two-three wickets in Powerplay... so you need to win back-to-back matches.”

On all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s form, Kotak said, “He is a player who can bat, bowl and field. He is the best in all departments. First few matches he was resting, last match he had an average game. But these players – (Suresh) Raina, Dinesh Karthik and Jadeja – are some of the best domestic cricketers we have.”
