He has been compared to M. S. Dhoni and national selector Saba Karim has revealed of looking at the 19-year-old in case the former limited-over captain is injured. However, Rishabh Pant is concentrating on his game. He knows what his mentor, Rahul Dravid, expects from him - to score big and get runs.

And he didn't disappoint when he came to bat, two days after his father's demise and scored a gritty 57 from 36 balls. The youngster has immense talent and his dedication indicates that he is here for the long run.

He is clear in his thought —  “My role in the team is to score runs and give my best when on the field. It doesn’t matter at which number I am batting. Right now, my team demands that I finish the games batting in the middle order. The T20 format is tricky, and you have to deliver whether you play in the top order or middle order.”

It shouldn't come as a surprise if Rishabh is promoted to open along with Sanju Samson on Sunday against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).

Standing opposite him will be Axar Patel. He has been KXIP's star bowler. The highest wicket-taker for the side, Patel's economy rate is around 7.96. He has established himself as the captain's trustworthy bowler.

Axar not only comes handy as a bowler, but can score those quick odd runs which plays a crucial role in a T20 match.

On Sunday, when KXIP takes on DD, it will be Rishabh's fortitude versus Axar's experience. And both of them would be looking to impress the selectors with a chance of making it to the Champions Trophy squad.
