Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs and registered its third win in the IPL.
Robin Uthappa hammered a quick 68 of just 39 balls including four sixes and five boundaries and also put up a crucial third wicket 77-run partnership with Manish Pandey which formed the crux of KKR's score of 172 for 6.
After KKR lost two quick wickets, Uthappa's knock provided a platform for his team and his effort didn't go in vain.
However, Uthappa should have departed for a duck. But, he was lucky as the umpire missed the deflection off his bat. He completed his half-century in just 27 balls, smashing the ball in every corner of the ground.
In reply, David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan gave Hyderabad a promising start with 45 for 0 in the powerplay, but Kuldeep nipped out Warner and derailed the chase for the Sunrisers. At last, Hyderabad lost 6 for 83 and eventually lost its second successive match.
So an easy win in the end for home team KKR, set up by its batsmen Uthappa, Pandey and then the spin duo of Narine and Kuldeep.
KKR has now won five games against Hyderabad at Eden Gardens without losing one. This is the most won by a team against an opposition at any venue without a loss, in the IPL.
