Kolkata Knight Riders returned to its home turf, aiming to forget the loss of the last match and return to winning ways. Its opposition was a team which has managed to beat seven on-the-trot previous to this match.
However, things looked quite difficult for the KKR with the side missing out the services of explosive batsman Chris Lynn.
Nonetheless, with the home advantage playing a role, the Knight Riders produced an all-round show and mellowed Kings XI Punjab.
While Colin de Grandhomme and Piyush Chawla restricted the opening pair from producing anymore damage, it was Umesh Yadav, who sparkled on his IPL 10th edition debut.
Yadav first removed the dangerous Glenn Maxwell, who slaughtered Piyush Chawla for one six and two fours. Later on, when David Miller and Wriddhiman Saha look to strengthen their partnership, Yadav returned to halt the 57-run stand.
The Indian bowling star registered a four-wicket haul giving away 33 runs from his designated four overs.
