“Players adapt to the situation very quickly and I don’t think there would be any negative impact on players because of limited-overs cricket,” Jadeja said after Gujarat Lions defeated Rising Pune Supergiants by seven wickets in Rajkot.

Helped by an attacking opening stand between Brendon McCullum (49) amd Aaron Finch (50) of 85 in 8.3 overs, Lions chased the required 164 comfortably, with two overs to spare.

Flying start

“Finch and McCullum are power-hitters and they gave us a flying start by adding 85 runs in less then nine overs that eased the pressure on the middle-order batsmen,” Jadeja said. Finch's 50 off 36 balls contained seven fours and two sixes while McCullum's 31-ball knock was studded with three fours and three sixes.

Jadeja lauded the openers in reducing pressure on the batsmen arriving after them in the line-up. “After getting a flying start from the openers, there was no need to go for a big shots,” Jadeja said.
