Saurabh Tiwary, Albie Morkel join Pune for IPL 9

Allrounder Albie Morkel and middle-order hitter Saurabh Tiwary have been procured by Rising Pune Supergiants from Delhi Daredevils, for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

Allrounder Albie Morkel and middle-order hitter Saurabh Tiwary have been procured by Rising Pune Supergiants from Delhi Daredevils, for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Morkel, a vital member of the Chennai Super Kings’ squad till the 2013 season, has also played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (2014) and Delhi Daredevils (2015). He scored 86 runs and took three wickets in the four matches he participated in, for the Daredevils, last season. Tiwary, who impressed in the 2010 edition of the tournament in 419 runs in 16 matches, scored 109 runs last season for the Daredevils in six matches.

“We are pleased to have Saurabh Tiwary and Albie Morkel for the upcoming season. They both are proven performers in the Indian Premier League and will strengthen our team,” Raghu Iyer, CEO, Rising Pune Supergiants said.

“The Rising Pune Supergiants have added more firepower to their batting line up by acquiring the services of all-rounder Albie Morkel and specialist batsman Saurabh Tiwary. Both players who represented the Delhi Daredevils in the previous edition, will now play for the Pune franchise,” IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla said.

Delhi Daredevils CEO Hemant Dua thanked the players for their contribution and wished them the best for the upcoming season.

The IPL this year will be held from April 9 to May 29.
