All eyes will be on Nitish Rana and Chris Gayle when Kolkata Knight Riders hosts Kings XI Punjab at the Eden Gardens on Saturday. Both the players are in form and it would be interesting to see how they carry that forward.
Rana has been a revelation for KKR this season. He is striking the ball at a strike rate of 138 while Gayle is in marauding form, with a strike rate of 174.
Gayle is a match winner on his day and it would also be interesting to see how the big hitting West Indian tackles Rana, the bowler. The 38-year-old left-hander scored 63 (against Chennai Super Kings) before scoring the first century of the tournament in his unbeaten 104 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In his two knocks the hurricane hitter has amassed 15 sixes.
Rana was brought by KKR for Rs.3.4 crore in this year’s auction and so far, the youngster has justified every single penny the franchise has spent on him.
With 162 runs in five innings at 40.50, Rana has been KKR’s highest run-scorer thus far in IPL 2018 and in the overall list of top run-getters this season, he is currently at the third position, after Virat Kohli (201) and Sanju Samson (185).
