KKR vs RCB Star Wars: Chris Lynn vs AB de Villiers

Two awe-inspiring hitters and game changers will display their wares on Sunday.

They are two flexible and cavalier batsmen, who are capable of annihilating bowling attacks. While the enigmatic AB de Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore) has a 34-ball century in international cricket to his credit and is labelled a 360-degree hitter, Chris Lynn has a Twenty20 career strike-rate even higher than de Villiers (148.35 to de Villiers’ 146.18) and has, in recent years, been a sensation in the Big Bash League as well as in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

De Villiers, coming off an eventful four-Test series against Australia, will have to adjust to the short format quickly, something that he is known to do very well. For, not only has he the capability of single-handedly destroying bowling attacks, he can also grind them out via the slow kill, as he famously displayed in the Adelaide Test against Australia in 2012-13. Alongside Virat Kohli, he forms a potent combination for Royal Challengers; no bowling attack is beyond them, and perhaps a title is within their grasp, too. In 2016, the two players inspired their team to a winning momentum that almost led them to their first IPL title.

Lynn, on the other hand, is widely known as a Twenty20 specialist. He has a solid reputation in the Big Bash League, and has been recognised as one of the key batsmen by Knight Riders. The franchise sought to retain the batsman for a jaw-dropping price of ₹9.6 crore, signifying his status as a Twenty20 superstar.

Who will trump the other on Sunday?
