Star Wars 2018, SRH vs DD: Kane Williamson vs Trent Boult

An all-Kiwi battle forms an intriguing subplot to Sunrisers Hyderabad's home fixture against Delhi Daredevils on Saturday night.

Battles involving players who are international team-mates are one of the features of the IPL and on Saturday, one potential player battle is that of two ace New Zealand players, Kane Williamson and Trent Boult.

Kane Williamson is enjoying a dream IPL season as player and captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, which is atop the table ahead of Saturday's fixtures. He has been in sparkling batting form, amassing 322 runs in eight innings, and as captain, Williamson has brought the very best out of his bowlers, who have defended sub-par and below-par totals this season (118, 133 and 151).

Batting at No. 3, Williamson has played the dual role of anchor and finisher and excelled at both. He is one of only two players to have four half-centuries this season and has shown no traces of the lack of form for New Zealand during the Trans-Tasman T20 tri-series back in February.

On Saturday, he may well go up against compatriot and Delhi Daredevils pace spearhead Trent Boult, who has shone with the ball. Boult is the leading wicket-taker this season (with 13). Boult has been the go-to bowler for Daredevils, which will need him to be at his best on Saturday.

Boult's ability to swing the ball back in and get it to leave the right-hander will be an aspect to keep an eye on. If he does manage it, Williamson and co. will have their work cut out.
