Jerome Taylor, the West Indies paceman, will replace Lasith Malinga in the Mumbai Indians squad for the remainder of the Indian Premier League season. Malinga was ruled out of the tournament owing to a knee injury that had kept him out of the World Twenty20 in March.

His participation depends on the ‘contractual paperwork formalities’, according to a piece of communication sent by the BCCI.

Taylor has previously represented Kings XI Punjab and the erstwhile Pune Warriors, and was part of the West Indies squad that lifted the World T20 title. He is a regular for West Indies in the Test squad too. He has played 41 Tests, 81 One-Day Internationals and 20 Twenty20 Internationals for West Indies.

He has played 61 Twenty20s in his career.
