As Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a blow ahead of its crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders as its key player, AB de Villiers, was ruled out due to viral fever.

With de Villiers missing out, New Zealand pace ace Tim Southee was named in the final eleven. The side also brought in Murugan Ashwin in place of his state-mate Washington Sundar.

“It is not a bad toss to lose actually, it looks better than I thought. Our bowlers have put it behind us (losing to CSK). Southee is a good option with the new ball and at the death,” RCB captain Virat Kohli said.

In the previous edition of the tournament, Southee scalped only three wickets.
