Jayant Yadav in-action during the second test against England

With Jayant Yadav making his Test debut against England in Vizag, it was a moment of pride for one of the city’s well known clubs Jolly Rovers, as for the first time three of its players are part of the playing XI in the national side.

While M. Vijay has been associated with Rovers since the 2007-08 season, R. Ashwin played for the side between 2006-2008 before moving to Vijay CC. The India off-spinner made his return to the club earlier this year.

Yadav joined Rovers last year ahead of the 2015-16 season where he scored 209 runs in seven matches and was the leading wicket-taker for his side with 28 wickets.

The team recently commemorated its golden jubilee year of being owned by the Sanmar group with a year-long celebrations earlier this year.

The team management said it was a moment of pride for the club that three of its players are representing the national side at the highest level of the game. Jolly Rovers has won the TNCA first-division title 18 times.
