In a game that saw wild swings in momentum between both sides, Karaikudi Kaalai managed to win the crucial moments even though it lost to Tuti Patriots in the final league game of the TNPL to secure its place in the playoffs.

However, Kaalai struck back in the fifth over with off-spinner Swaminathan picking both the openers.

Satish remained unbeaten on 57 off 34 balls with six boundaries and two sixes.

Earlier, put into bat Kaalai’s top order set the foundation for a big score with openers S. Aniurdha and V. Aaditya putting up a 66-run partnership.

The openers played sensibly and raced to 50 for no loss at the end of power play without taking much risks as Aaditya dealt in boundaries.

Patriots came back post the power play with Sai Kishore bowling Anirudha and Jesuraj accounting for Aaditya caught and bowled.

Between the seventh and 15th over, Kaalai managed only 61 runs losing four wickets.

However, R. Srinivasan turned the tide back towards his side as he sent the Patriots on a leather hunt.

Srinivasan first sent pacer Jesuraj over long on for a six and before sending spinner Sai Kishore over the same place.

Srinivasan finished unbeaten on 46 off just 29 balls to help Kaalai post a competitive score of 164.
