Captain Virat Kohli has expectedly singled out Kedar Jadhav for helping India stage a remarkable comeback to seal a > famous win in the series-opening One-Day International (ODI) against England on Sunday.

Virat Kohli post-match comments

“It was outstanding just to have another guy who is willing to do from any situation, to keep pushing. He knew exactly how to bat on this pitch,” Kohli said of Jadhav, whose 76-ball 120 and the 200-run partnership with Kohli for the fifth wicket reversed the tide in India’s favour after the host was precariously placed at 63 for four in the hunt of England’s 350 for seven.

“He (Kedar) put a lot of pressure into the spinners. One of the best calculative innings I have seen, 150 strike rate was outstanding, that too with all clean shots, without playing a slog. That’s why we bat him at 6.

“I was glad I was out there with him. He was disheartened versus New Zealand, when he could not get us across the line in Delhi. I told him then there’s no point thinking what you could have done and you would learn how to close games out as you play more.”
