Virat Kohli's inclusion in the Indian T20 squad for the two-match series against Ireland has created major confusion. India faces Ireland on June 27 and 29 and Kohli, who has just signed a month-long contract with English county side Surrey, is slated to play the last Division One County Championship match against Yorkshire between June 25 and 28.
Speaking to Sportstar , Surrey's director of cricket, Alec Stewart had said, “We are getting one of the best players, if not the best, in the world. He will be here for three championship games and a minimum of three 50-over games that can help Surrey and it can help Virat by providing cricket for him."
BCCI acting secretary, Amitabh Choudhary, didn't provide many details on this issue. “Be rest assured, everything is fine,” he told PTI .
“If the selectors have picked him for the Ireland T20s despite the county dates being available, it means that he will not play the game against Yorkshire. This cannot be a unilateral decision as the county contracts has been inked after much deliberation. Playing against Ireland means that he will get only two county games," a senior BCCI official said.
