The first meeting between the Committee of Administrators (CoA) and the Indian team’s coaching staff in Bengaluru on Wednesday turned out to be productive. The CoA has asked head coach Anil Kumble to present a comprehensive report related to the national team, junior team, women’s team and domestic first-class cricket. Kumble is expected to present the report in three weeks.

BCCI's new MOA by March 20

Apart from Kumble, assistant coaches Sanjay Bangar (batting) and R. Sridhar (fielding) had an opportunity to engage with the CoA chairman Vinod Rai and members Diana Eduljee and Ramchandra Guha. The chairman of the BCCI junior National selection committee, Venkatesh Prasad, had a separate meeting with Rai and it’s learnt that Virat Kohli met Rai over breakfast.

Underpaid?

The central contracts and match fee structure across all formats to cricketers appears to have been discussed. Sources said that Bangar and Sridhar, who have a ten month contract at Rs. 10 lakh a month each, feel they are underpaid.

Deloitte report to be submitted to SC on March 20

Kumble, who made the first presentation twelve years ago on the gradation of players, is familiar with the matter and sources said it has been suggested to him to study the annual retainership and salary structure of the other full-member countries.

Recently, a petition was made to the CoA to look into the central contracts and match-fee structure, while last year Kohli conveyed to the BCCI that there is a need for the payment structure to be reviewed.
