The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has revealed the remuneration package and bonus that will be on offer for the coaches in the new domestic season.
The association -- which invited applications for the coaching job for all its age-group teams -- has categorically mentioned in its website how much a coach would get as remuneration and also what would the bonus amount be if the team wins or becomes runner-up in the BCCI tournaments.
For instance, the coach of Mumbai’s senior men’s team will be given a remuneration of Rs 24 lakh, while the bonus amount will be Rs 12 lakh if the team wins the Ranji Trophy, and Rs 6 lakh for being the runner-up.

It has been learned last year, the coach of the Ranji Trophy team was offered a remuneration of Rs 18 lakh. The MCA officials, however, admit that the decision has been taken to ensure there is more transparency in the process and more incentive for the coaches to apply.
“We have decided to put up the figures to maintain transparency in the whole process,” MCA’s Chief Executive Officer, C.S. Naik, told Sportstar.
Usually, the state associations decide on the remuneration packages after interviewing or shortlisting the candidates, but this move, is new.
While the former players and coaches have welcomed the move, they also point out there could be a bit of ‘gray’ area in the whole process.
“This is a little confusing because salaries are flexible depending on the personnel. You can’t have a quantifiable structure for selecting a coach. By this, you are narrowing the number of people who will apply and you are leaving no room for negotiation,” former Mumbai captain, Shishir Hattangadi, said.

The 41-time champion side, which won the Ranji Trophy title, for the last time in 2016-17 season, was awarded a prize money of Rs 2 crore by the BCCI.
The MCA, too had, announced an equal bonus for the players. It also paid Rs 5 lakh as a bonus to all the members of the team support staff. But later, the association discovered that there was a ‘calculation error’ and the staff were mistakenly paid ‘excess’ payment. To recover the same, the MCA decided that the excess amount will be deducted from their NECC logo sponsorship income.
The interested candidates could apply by Monday (May 13th) by 6 pm.
