The Pakistan cricket team left for the tour of Ireland and England on Monday without pace spearhead Mohammad Amir. The 26-year-old speedster had to stay back for visa clearance.
The Pakistan Cricket Board is confident that the star bowler will be cleared by this week.
“These are procedural delays, he should be here this week,” a PCB spokesperson told Sportstar on Monday.
There were, of course, speculations regarding the visa delay for his tainted period in the UK back in 2010. He served half of a six-month jail sentence over spot-fixing charges.
Since returning to international cricket in 2015, Amir has visited the UK regularly and Pakistan also won the Champions Trophy in London last year.
Amir is expected to fly to the UK the day he gets his visa.
